Hey friends, I’ll get right into this.

ECs: Orchestra (First Viola for three years, District Honor orch for one, have taught violin tutoring for two), iGEM (Research project based around CRISPR gene editing conducted over the summer and fall of this year, also founded school’s bioclub), Scholar’s Bowl (Varsity member for two years, currently 6-0 for tournaments and events and won our last tournament undefeated all eight rounds), I also write books and am self-published, am an Eagle Scout, and play JV tennis.
National Merit Commended/ AP Scholar with Honors (Here’s to tier 2 in everything lol) Other honors include some state wins for orchestra and some regional wins for scholar’s bowl.
When I submitted, I thought my Commonapp essay was fabulous; Time has passed and I’ve reflected, but I’m still gonna say that it’s 9/10. It’s the prompt about something you hope to accomplish, and I talk about my eventual goal of solving aging and creating immortality. A little off the deep end? Probably, but I like it enough. I’ve been told by people (not friends or family) who read it that it was pretty good. The other essays for each college vary a bit, but I think (and have been told as such) that they’re all solid. So 9/10 for those as well.
Recs: I haven’t read any of these, so take that to heart:
AP Bio teacher: had her freshman year and senior year, so I like to think she’s seen my transformation. Actually, I know she has, because she (and other students) tell me that she frequently brings me up as an example of someone committed to and passionate for science. So I’ll rate that a solid 10/10.
AP Euro teacher: Straight 10/10, she loves me, we talk a lot because she’s the scholar’s bowl coach. She refers to me as an example of what a good student should look like and she and I get into historical arguments a lot. I like her because she treats me as an equal.
AP Physics teacher: This is probably closer to an 8.5/10, he said that he wrote a good letter, but I’ve always been an average student in his class. He likes me well enough, but my friend, who is also in that class, is an absolute knockout with math and physics and I’m certain I pale in comparison. lol.
Legacy at WashU from my overachieving Grandpa.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
