Let's say I plan to play a spring sport my senior year (or even a winter sport, for early application). Or maybe I plan to continue doing my clubs. This will happen after the application is sent, so do I still check the "12th grade" box for the activity?

Also, let's say I'm planning to do some volunteer activity later in the year. Should I check the 12 box even though I haven't done it before?

If you have been doing this volunteer activity for the past years and would be continuing it in the senior year, then yes, but since you’ve never done it before, you shouldn’t even list it on the application. If you want, you may perhaps drop a note indicating that you plan to participate in these activities in the upcoming year, but it’s the what you have done that matters the most, not what you plan to do.
