Class of 2017 acceptance rate: 38%
Class of 2018 acceptance rate: 24.4%(?!?)
What can we expect this year? There were definitely more applicants last year than the year before.

Nobody tell their friends about Kenyon. I want to get in.

From what admissions office said – dropping the Kenyon supplement is what led to a big jump in the number of apps a year ago, with a consequent drop in the acceptance rate as the number of freshman spots had not changed. Without any further adjustments to the admissions process or any other dramatic changes on campus, I would expect the number of apps to be generally consistent with last year and, therefore, the acceptance rate to be about the same as last year.

@midwestmomofboys darn. i think that means that visiting campus for an interview, which I’ve done before, is probably weighed a little bit more than before, right?

The admissions rep said to us, in our info session, that they dropped the “Why Kenyon” supplement because they realized they could weigh interest other ways. So, visiting with an on-campus interview helps, I am sure. Good luck! My 11th grader really likes Kenyon, seems like a wonderful community.

@Midwestmomofboys How should I express interest if I can’t visit (financial reasons), but I’ve already interviewed? I want to send something to my rep, but I feel like it’s forward to say, “Kenyon is my first choice!” Also, I can’t apply ED due to financial aid packages as well.
