I want to go to UConn for chemical engineering, but I want to know in general, A) Does putting a preferred major make it more or less likely to get in? and B) Is chemical engineering a hard major to get at a State U like UConn? Would I be more or less likely to get is as undeclared or Chemical Engineering?

Come on, can’t anyone give some input

I don’t know anything about UConn, but I don’t think that’ll have that much of an effect on your chances. Your stats and ECs will get you into college, not your preferred major. Hope that helps.

thanks smashed, anyone else?

Some state universities do have different levels of selectivity by major; this is more likely if freshmen are admitted already declared in their majors. You want to check to see if this is the case that Connecticut.

thanks ucb
