For some schools, they say that they "prefer" a certain subject test.
They require a math subject test and then they say a "second subject test "preferrably" science."

Does this mean if I take math and english lit, or spanish etc. will it look bad? I didn't take any bio or physics tests, and I know that i'll do better on the lit test.

Should I just study for a science subject test or do you think it won't matter if i can get a good/great lit subject test score?

most schools would like to see Math 2 and Chem

don't tempt fate. if they want you to do it, then DO IT. follow instructions!!!

If they prefer it, take it if you have been prepared for it in your coursework.

Thats the thing though, i've never taken a physics class. And the only bio class i've taken was in freshman year....

Check your college's website and see if they list requirements or recommendations for SAT II's (if you're applying to a university, check the requirements for the college you want to go to). If they list none, then follow the important rule of thumb:

Take SAT Subject Tests in the subjects you'll do best in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT school specifies a 'science' in conjuntion with math? I would assume that such school would be heavy into science and/or engineering. If you have not taken Chem or Physics in HS, your likelihood of acceptance is low since nearly evey applicant will have had one of not both, and AP/IB.

If you really need a science one, study bio over the next couple months. A lot of it is memorization.

Was looking at carnegie mellon. I took a honors bio and chem ap but I don't like the subjects so I don't think i'll do well on them. It says on the CMU site
"any other subject test, preferably science"

so I might take the advice and study for bio....but i'd much rather take lit.
