This is genuinely useful for Cornell students. I just realized that you guys may not have heard about it yet.

this is awesome

wow! this is a very useful tool. Thanks merc!

btw, are the timings displayed, of all courses we choose, accurate?

Yes, the courses and times are taken directly from the Cornell Courses of Study book.

Is a SEC like a revision of a LEC?

It depends on the class. I can't speak for engineering, but in many of my classes the sections were a review of the lecture (usually pretty useful, especially if you have weekly homework or something). In other classes, sections were used for case studies or additional work. Some sections will have mandatory attendance, and it's a good idea to go anyway to just review the material (another way to study for those pesky prelims) and sometimes meet people for study groups.

Some courses have both a lecture and a section. Some have just a lecture, and some have just a section. Your writing seminar will just have a section which meets 2-3 times a week.

Whether lecture/section attendance is mandatory depends on the course and who teaches it. You won't know until you go for the first time. You may just be told, "attendance is this part of your grade," but don't feel uncomfortable asking a teacher, "do I actually have to come to class?" They usually aren't offended if you're polite.

haha, nice how we posted at the same time.

And SECs are by TAs, right?

btw, Don't we have Laboratory classes also? They haven't been incorporated.

don't forget that some of the classes might not be available

Sections are by TAs, yes.

You should be able to add labs. They might be under different course numbers.

Are the times of classes up to date for the Fall 2006 semester?

Should be.

Yeah, it should be under 'roster'.

mercury, you should make a complete list of "Prefrosh ... Have you Heard?" lists. You could include stuff like, DC++, rush week, slope day, that thing where everyone yells/screams at midnight when Finals start, etc .... hahaha and the traditional "bring your rape whistle to prelims". Maybe a lil about big red bucks. Dragon Day! A capella. That small gorge that people dive into (not the suicide one). Getting up at 6 am to pre-enroll in December and again in ... April?

I would do it but Im lazy and you seem to explain things pretty well.

You can get all that stuff off the Class Of site + Wikipedia.

Is WRIT Writing Seminar...Does it have a number?

You won't know what your writing seminar is ahead of time.

which is crappy bc you cant work it into your schedule but since there are tons of writing seminars its not really a problem, you'll more than likely find an open time slot

Yeah, I don't know my FWS or PE Course yet.
