Prejudice Against Transfers! – Ucla

lilxlazyxboi,

I can agree with that.

haha. i just hope i get in.

If I got accepted it would be just like Christmas^infinity.

Just like CC is a small group of students who care about where they're going in life regarding colleges, that website you speak of is a small group of people who love talking shi+.

Juicycampus.com is a "gossip" site. Need I say more?

The website is also being sued. Who knows how long it will continue to be up. The issue is that a lot of it is free speech that deals with someone expressing their opinion of someone. However, some of it deals with false accusations that defames someones character. I'm the biggest proponent of free speech. Someone can say all they want about me. I'll just make sure they get a nice reaction. Freedom of speech = freedom of reaction :)

Edit:

Well... i'm not too scary being 5'7" and 135lbs. I used to weigh 118 at that height a couple months ago O_O! Lucky for me their are protein shakes!

I bet the UCLA students that goes to the "gossip" site are the ones that talk trash, but are always quiet in class.

im 6'2, 195lbs. BOOM, and i LOVE it.

I can see why these HS->Campus people look down on transfers; it's like 100 times harder to get from HS than it is from a cc. You guys have to admit cc is ridiculously easy...and because it only took me 2 years before having to transfer, ill be of the same age as the people who may mention these mean things to me. So it's not like im behind or anything, it's just i couldnt get in from HS. I doubt anyone would tell you they discriminate due to admit status, if that were to happen, that's like someone discriminating due to ethnic background; it gives you grounds to punk them right back.

just say you had to go to cc because you were gang affiliated and the hood was holding you down and you needed a couple more years to wrap everything up before leaving. They'll get scared, if not, just beat that asss

DANG! There is some hate for Persians on the UCLA section of that website! I'm half Persian but look white as hell. People need to stop being so rude! If they made fun of me, there will be a price to pay.

*** people take their time to post **** about transfers? lol wow i dont think it gets any lamer than that...

"deadweight" haha hell yah im deadweight that means more work 4 u and less for me in group projects~

whatever bunch of egomaniacs inflating their egos, that's life 4 u dont u luv it

disengage,

Exactly! They need to get a life!

Heres the deal, freshman who get admitted remain as academic over achievers who discover that school does not guarentee job upon graduation. Transfer students seem to have more wisdom, they know what is necessary and what's not. Transfer students, I believe just have more experience with life in general while freshman students like to build their pride based on their academic achievements.

Remember, Going to a community college prior to 4 year university has saved your parents great amounts of money.

I think this topic is being over analyzed. We're generalizing the freshman's attitude toward transfer students. Maybe a small fraction of UCLA's freshmen are prejudice. Could it be that most prejudice are FROM the freshmen and not the juniors?

If they don't learn to accept students from different walks of life, they'll never mature.

I agree with henryvisionp...
Regardless of how easy or difficult Community College is, serious, high achieving transfer students learn to value education and get to explore majors and career choices seriously. On the other hand, freshmen kids get caught up at a young age with a different scene, where they get rounded up together, test the limits of foolishness of college without learning much about their place and plans until they actually graduate. Transfer kids see all these older students with fulltime jobs and families and that can leave a lasting impression about the importance of having a plan and being realistic.

I definitely would not have grown up as much as I have had I stayed in high school and gone to a 4 year

"Remember, Going to a community college prior to 4 year university has saved your parents great amounts of money."

Going to Community College prior to a 4 year university has saved ME great amounts of money. Haha, my parents aren't paying squat. I laugh to mask my sadness.

Overprivileged SoCal kids making snobby, obnoxious snap judgments? Oh, I never.

i was at ucla last night and wow, those kids have nice cars.

Do you really think a small population of negative opinions have ANYTHING to do with your education? You will still get top-notch experience from a respectable school, no matter what any little kid says. Don't change your dreams over some tards, it's just not worth it.

Transfer students play to win!

mrxmark,

We play well with others. haha
