I already read what is inside Goldshadow's good premed school. However, I would like to knonw some specifics from people who know about these, especially regarding grade deflation in the sciences at both schools.

It seems Stanford has less grade inflation than Princeton, but in the sciences (Molecular Biology/biochemistry), those differences might be minimal. Is that correct?

If so, it basically boils down to a matter of fit? is that correct?

does princeton pre-screen its admission rate to med schools? Because 93% is a freaking high admission rate.

Where can I find Stanford's med school acceptance rate?

Finally, how does the premed advising structure and Stanford and Princeton compare? (I heard some stanford horror stories, but none at princeton so far.)

Thanks.

Stanford is between 70 and 75%. I’d go to whichever one is farther from home.

“I’d go to whichever one is farther from home.”

Lol… And why so? Getting away from home is not a particular necessity for me. I mean the difference between a million miles and 2 million miles don’t matter that much any more.

Well, I’m not sure where you live. But being far from home is valuable both for independence, but also for a richer cultural experience within the US… getting to visit opposite coasts, places with different approaches, etc.

Princeton’s med school acceptance rate is around 93%, and Princeton is pretty deflated as well, especially in mol bio. not sure if this helps…

"Princeton’s med school acceptance rate is around 93%, and Princeton is pretty deflated as well, especially in mol bio. not sure if this helps… "

Doesn’t it seem contradictory though? Although more grade deflated than Stanford (I think the avg. GPA at Princeton is 3.3, while at Stanford, it’s 3.55), Princeton has a much higher rate of acceptance (93% vs. 75%). And I don’t believe either schools screens applicants.

Not contradictory at all. (1) Stanford has bad advising. (2) Stanford kids are disproportionately from CA, which is a bad home state to have. (3) Princeton is a little deflated, but has a reputation for being deflated.

Yup Princeton kids are also aware of the deflation policy and therefore may modify their applications for medical school appropriately - remember, acceptance rate is just a rate and doesn’t provide information about the actual schools. That being said, I love Princeton, think the advising is fantastic, and have not been hurt by grade deflation in any meaningful way, in hindsight.
