premed or not

Im a junior and I think that I want to be a doctor but i am not sure. If I dont go premed what am I missing?

As far as I know, most schools don't have a "premed" major. Premed is just a curriculum of core classes that you have to take for admission into Med School and to prepare for the MCATs. Basic classes like biology + lab, chemistry, organic chemistry, etc.

You can major in something non-science, as long as you are still premed (e.g. taking the right classes to prepare for the MCATs & Med School)

You're not missing anything if you are a non-science major.

There is not such thing as a pre-med major. Pre-med, as auroral corona stated, is a set of classes that you would have to take to enter med school/prepare for the MCAT. They are as follows:
A year of Freshman Chemistry along with the appropriate laboratory courses
A year of Organic Chemistry along with laboratory courses
A year of Biology along with laboratory courses
A year of Physics along with laboratory courses
A year of English
A year of Calculus or other advanced math classes, including Statistics

Some schools may require additional courses, such as ones in the Behavioural Sciences.

I would recommend volunteering at a medical clinic or hospital to get a sense of what practicing medicine will be like, and to see if you like it. You could also try to shadow a doctor. Since becoming a doctor is such a long commitment, you should probably figure out whether you truly want to do it before committing yourself to several years of schooling/training.
