Prep class requirements

Hi,

I'm a sophomore in finance at a four year private university and looking to transfer for the upcoming fall.. I have a 3.75 gpa but I haven't taken calculus (only college algebra) or any statistics class... These classes seem to be absolute requirements for a junior transfer. I have all the rest such as managerial and financial accounting, micro and macro economics...

What are my options from here? Will my application head straight to the bin due to this?!

Thanks

What school are you trying to transfer to? I can only speak in generalities, but you are suppose to have the prerequisites completed before you transfer. The sooner you complete them the better.

I am in Florida right now so I figured I’d would have the best chances for a successful transfer within state. The schools I am interested in is University of Florida and Florida State, maybe University of Miami but it’s too much money for me as an international. But sure, I would love to go to a better university such as UNY Stern if that would be possible… I have been told to go up north due to my choice of major but I wouldnt actually know where to begin…

Back to topic; No matter what school I look at they all require business calculus and statistics. So I figured have have the following options:

Do these classes over summer and then go back to Sweden and apply for 2012 spring term.

Apply and get admitted (?) and still have sophmore status during an additional semester. If this is possible will say.

I dont want to waste more time, I want to graduate ASAP!!!

I’m not familiar with any of the schools you’ve mentioned except NYU’s Stern. You need to do some research as every school is different. You are correct on the prerequisites overlapping though. Another thing is Stern does not accept applications for spring, only fall.

Class standing depends on how many credits you have completed and how many will actually transfer. For example, you might have completed 60 credits but if only 25 transfer, likely hood is you’ll be classified as a Sophomore. In addition, some schools will only accept a max of 64 units. Like I said, you really have to research the individual schools.
