I'm planning on retaking the World History test because I felt terrible after my June test and cancelled all of my scores...

I'm looking for a book that's good for self-studying and covers pretty much all the content I need to know. accurate practice tests would be nice, but the most important thing for me is the material in the book. I don't really want to get multiple books to supplement each other, but if that's the best solution, I would do it.

I've only taken two terms of an honours thematic World History course and one term of Chinese history, meaning I'm solid on East Asian history and okay with European history. my classes never really covered maps or dates (except for East Asian history), and I don't have a set textbook to review. I know almost nothing about Africa and vaguely remember some details about the Americas and civilizations before 500 CE.

could anyone recommend a prep book that might be good for me? I've read a lot of different answers to this question, but they all seem to contradict each other (Barron's? Kaplan? PR? PR AP World History?).

Barron’s SAT World History. Purchased it for kindle a few weeks ago, goes quite in depth through the different time periods. I won’t be taking the test for another year, but I’d definitely recommend it from what I’ve read so far.

I used Barron’s AP review book and AP World History REA crash course book. I feel very good about my scores, which I can update when they come out tomorrow. I simply read the books over and underlined as I went.

I checked out Kaplan’s SAT II for it, but I did not have time to really use it. My AP World teacher highly recommended it to me, though. I did take its diagnostic test, which seemed accurate

dune297: I’ll take that into consideration! thanks!
janedoeski: hopefully you did well? but thanks for answering! just out of curiosity, how long is the REA crash course book? and how long is Kaplan’s?

The REA crash course book is short and can be read in one day if you are really cramming. I used it for review, because it hits all the main topics. It can’t be used as your only study tool though, it is not detailed enough.
The Kaplan book was pretty big, definitely bigger than my Barron’s AP book. And I got my scores this morning, 770!

5 steps for a 5 AP World review book is pretty good.
