SLX: the latter haha--almost every1 at GW is really nice, down to earth and intelligent. It ****es me off when some very vocal people at GW rant about JAPS just because they resent the style---but overall, there are far fewer of the "good Japs" than nice, wholesome ppl over all...hah GW is awesome

Well said, EricGallagher1.

Yeah, it's weird. I mean, I'm don't dress "Jappy" because I personally don't like super trendy clothes, but I don't understand why people at GW hate it so much. In high school, everyone wore American Eagle stuff and Abercrombie. How is that inferior to "jappy" clothes?

I really don't have anything against anyone. I'm just saying that's how it is sometimes. I'm usually friendly with anyone. I exagerrated a bit too for effect. High school hopefully is completely different from college.

Abercrombie is not preppy. HTH.

are you kidding? abercrombie is soo preppy!

wait, what does HTH mean?

Yes, Landmark is for students with learning disabilities so the class size is tiny and each student gets a one on one tutor for some hours a week. This incredible teacher student ratio explains the high price for Landmark.

I am afraid that GW does not have this excuse. I believe that GW does attract the very rich who then subsidize the scholarships for the very bright and for the very moderate to poor income students.

In a sense, I guess one could argue that there is a certain justice to this. That the Prada bag kids are subsidizing the best and brightest students (though I guess some of the Prada bag kids get merit money themselves) is really kind of neat.

Nonetheless, I guess GW charges what the market (the market of rich students) will bear; if you have a moderate or meager income then you can get merit or decide to go elsewhere. That GW charges more than Harvard, Yale and Princeton still does see to be a bit outrageous. I wonder what their official line on that is.

Thanks to alanstewart for a great link to new yorker. Antisemitism in higher education is a historical reality that cannot be disputed.

The super-rich students at GW provide the opportunity for a lot of us to attend a school that would otherwise be out of our reach. There's no reason to be bitter / hate them.
