Prerequisites for MCB C100A

From the UCB Course Catalog:

" Molecular and Cell Biology C100A - Biophysical Chemistry: Physical Principles and the Molecules of Life

Prerequisites:
Chemistry 3A or 112A, Mathematics 1A, Biology 1A and 1AL; Chemistry 3B or 112B recommended. "

I have completed Bio 1A/1AL, and over summer I will be taking Chemistry 3A.
I will be taking Chemistry 3B in the fall. Can anyone here tell me why Chem 3B is recommended and not a full prerequisite? Also, roughly what percentage of students in MCB 100A have taken Chem 3B first?

Can anyone help, or direct me somewhere that I might be able to find this info? I’ve checked sites like Courserank, etc.

please?

I took it simultaneously with Chem 3B, I don’t think there was much material from 3B in the class. MCB 100A is a pretty difficult course though so I would recommend finishing off the lower division requirements first. Taking Physics 8B before would also be a good idea.
