Hello all,
I have a quick question about prerequisites. Do they need to be completed before the application due date, or as long as it is done by the Spring term before entering the University? Does it make your application look worst if you have not completed all your prereqs by the time you turn in the application?
Thanks.

Prerequisites for UC campuses need to be completed before the Fall date of matriculation. In other words, you need to finish the prerequisites before you attend the university (Spring semester), and the summer does not count.

Personally, I finished all my prerequisites and IGETC before spring semester-- it made me feel a bit easier, not having to worry about spring semester grades. To answer your question about not completing before spring, I doubt that. As long as you follow their wants, I don't believe you could displease them with that.

They need to be completed by the end of the spring semester before transferring. It's normal that you haven't completed all your prereqs when turning in the application. If you do really bad in your spring semester UCs have the right to rescind the admission offer.

Well, it might make your application look bad if you leave all the hard classes for spring. E.g. if you're an engineering major but you leave 2 physics and 3 math classes to complete in spring it would look like you simply boosted up your GPA with the easier classes for the application.

However, if you're planning on taking a "normal" courseload in spring and completed most of your stuff already then everything should be fine.

As an addendum, some majors/campuses do consider pre-reqs completed during the summer. Doing this probably makes you less competetive, however.

Thanks everyone.. I'm just a bit worried...I'm 18 (high school senior) but I started college classes at the beginning of my senior year, which would make it possible for my transfer in 1 year instead of 2, but I'm afraid they might not take a student like that as serious.
Does the admission office look for updated grades/classes after the application when considering admission?

Yes they do. There is an update you must complete on the UC site somewhere around the end of January. The purpose of this is to update your Fall grades (in most of our cases here, we updated Fall 07 grades). I happened to also have Winter grades, so I went ahead and updated those as well.

If you want an accelerated coursework schedule (that's manageable) just private message me. I finished my college coursework within a year and a half (70+ units).

I'm sure they're take that person serious, since he or she got serious and finished the two years worth of work in one.
