Question about prereqs

I know that you must/should do all your major prereqs if you wanna transfer successfully. But I'm kind of stressing about this because I'm applying this Fall, and I won't have all my prereqs completed.

Does it matter when you complete your prereqs? Like, do you have an advantage if you apply with your prereqs completed? Or does it not matter, because you send in Fall/Winter grade updates anyway?

You have to show that you can complete prereqs **before the transfer/b. So, you have to show that you can complete prereqs & GE using your regular courseload in the Fall & Spring. You’ll get an admission contingent upon maintaining certain GPA and completion of prereqs (that’s why you’ll need to send updates).

Bump for a question for those that have gone through the process.

How do you show that you will be able to complete the pre reqs by Spring before transfer? I go to a UC so I am completing UC reciprocity (equivalent to IGETC), but it is going to take me until Spring quarter to finish up the last prereq due to when courses are offered.

i transferred from a UC to a UC and basically when you have to fill out supplemental forms in january, you update the classes you will take for winter and spring. i had to fill out a separate form for my major, listing which major reqs i finished and which were in progress or planned. then in the notes portion, i just stated i would finish all my reqs by spring. it’ll all be reflected in your final transcript and statement of uc reciprocity…so they won’t know when they accept your admission, but they’ll hold you accountable for what your reported when they review your documents. So if you say you’ll have them completed by spring but actually do not, they could rescind your admission.

Depends on your major. If it is impacted then finishing all prereqs is a must. If it is non impacted then you have a shot at school like ucla and ucb.

I got into ucla as a chem major, which is non impacted, and am still missing 6 major prereqs.

It’s doable but I suggest trying to finish as much of them as possible before you transfer.

aar0n0polis is correct. If you’re not applying to an impacted major, then missing a couple of prereqs is acceptable, especially if they were not offered at your CC. I was missing several prereqs and I was admitted to Cal’s CS program.
