Okay, thank you for this. I am working on this information too and will get a group list going. I am looking for Acting Prescreens as opposed to MT.
Hello! I am confused about NYU - is there a PreScreen for Acting, (not MT)? I keep trying to confirm/deny on their website, and I have to be honest, it is really unclear. I am sorry to bother you.
@FourStars - NYU has never required a prescreen for acting or MT. Nothing I find on their website give any indication that this has changed. You have to apply, and then you can schedule your artistic review, which is what they call the audition.

@toowonderful Thank you! I know, I never heard about Prescreen at NYU either, was pretty sure there was NOT one, but the website has this whole “Upload your Materials” to the “Tisch Drama SlideRoom Portal”. It’s making me think I am missing something. Here’s the section that is misleading - it comes BEFORE the section in your link above (thanks for that).
@FourStars - the confusion may be that the page you show is for tisch as a WHOLE- rather than drama. I know nothing about film/writing majors etc … but can easily imagine that they require submission of materials rather than a live audition. (Though an applicant might still have to schedule the interview portion)
@FourStars - if I remember correctly from last year the materials that you have to upload to slideroom are not prescreen videos but it was a resume and headshot. The resume they wanted was more detailed than most of the other resumes that we submitted. It was more than just performances and training. It included community service, work experience and stuff like that. Can’t remember if there was anything else but definitely wasn’t prescreen last year.
@waitingforlife and @toowonderful . Thank you for sharing about the Prescreen, especially knowing from waitingforlife that there was NOT one last year. Although, as you may have heard, Carnegie Mellon has added Prescreen, and some folks think that more schools will follow suit. So, there is now way except to check each site, but it is not always crystal clear!
@soozievt shared a brand new musical theatre contemporary program from USC and it requires a prescreen
@FourStars I am not sure about Tisch but if there is anyone out there who is applying to NYU Steinhardt MT program it does require a prescreen. This is the MT program through the school of music not the school of drama - so it is a slightly different degree with a different focus. The school of music allows you to get a Vocal performance degree with a concentration on either opera or musical theater. My daughter did their summer program and loved it (summer students are exempt from the prescreen - that’s why we know about it). Anyway I can’t speak highly enough about it -if anyone has questions - please ask!
USC has officially postponed their MT program to the 19/20 school year. They had a freakshly early deadline to apply for 2018, then a confusing 12/1 deadline in their mailer (that did not account for the 10/1 deadline on the web site) then the formal delay AFTER we had submitted the common app (with fee) and they also used one of our FAFSA/Test store spots - BUMMER! Chalk it up to the dangers of a MT startup program - there are bound to be some hiccups. Plus, on the tour it felt like drama was a poor relation to the world class film school there. Here’s our football field! And drama in this shed. Here’s the film school! But let’s walk over to this storage facility and then walk some more and here’s the black box theatre…oh wait, no? It’s locked. I’m sure they’ll get it right…eventually.
I am sorry to hear that, @DramaLlama18 . They should refund your application money!
You can remove them from your fafsa and add another school. My D did a lot of dropping and adding last spring.
