Hello- I submitted my common application for NYU Tisch and am waiting for the email with a link to submit my prescreen materials. How long does this typically take? It’s been 3 days.
I just double checked the NYU/Tisch website and I don’t think things have changed since last year, so NYU doesn’t require a pre-screen. You apply, and then they will contact you to schedule a live “artistic review,” which is like a typical college audition PLUS an interview. My daughter is a freshman there (NSB) and I’m happy to answer any questions. I think the most confusing thing for applicants is that they let you choose whether you want to apply for “MT only” or for “all studios.” They told us in the information session before the audition that if you are dead set on a BFA in MT (not necessarily at NYU) choose that option - but if Tisch Drama is a top choice, choose the “all studios” option. The thing to remember with NYU/Tisch is that they do a thorough holistic review of their applicants and THEY place you in whichever studio they think is the best fit. Several of the 7-performance based primary training studios (first 2 years) also require dance, voice, etc., but the only MT studio is New Studio on Broadway… but you won’t find out which studio you’ve been placed into until 10-14 days after you get your Tisch Drama acceptance. However, only a small percentage of students ended up changing studios, as they do a phenomenal job of placing kids in studios where they will thrive.
In the Application Status page, it says: “Schedule Artistic Review (Coming Shortly)”. They said the scheduling would open mid-October but I don’t believe that has happened yet.
