President Sample recently gave a speech which may be of interest to new students who will attend SC and your parents. Here are some highlights:
1. Huge new campus center to be built and in use by 2010.
2. Soon to be completed are 32 new buildings.
3. Set a goal to provide 8000 new spaces for residential living on campus.
4. Plans are being made to launch a $5 BILLION fundraising campaign.
5. SC's law school graduates now pass the bar exam at a higher rate than UCLA or Berkeley graduates.
6. Since the "Building on Excellence" campaign ended SC has raised nearly $2 BILLION in gifts and pledges.
7. SC raised more funds last year than any other university in the U.S. other than Stanford and Harvard.
8. One of Dr. Sample's hopes is to raise SC's endowment per student.

Please see SCorBust's post showing plans and renderings of the new campus center.

I don't have a link, but I have a hard-copy of that speech and I can corroborate all of the above.

He also said that scores on the step-one of the USMLE for the Keck School of medicine rose to 11 points above the national average, and also that graduates from the dental school rank in the top 3 nationally in passing licensing exams on the first try (rank top 10 nationally on scores from the part 1)

it's amazing to see how far the university has come since my dad attended there. whenever i'm talking to his friends, they always praise dr. sample for increasing the value of their degree. they also joke about how there was absolutely no chance that they would be able to get in today with the grades they had in high school.

It really corroborates what I have told many people, that Sample is perhaps the best college president. Then again, he did have a great foundation to work from.

From since I can remember reading about SC all I hear about Sample is how he's making these gargantuan leaps and bounds. Makes me feel good to know that I'll be at a school that's constantly getting better.
