president vs. vice president

for clubs, i know leadership positions count. is a vice president that much worse than president? also, how about secretary or treasurer? are they worse? is it bad if you have a lot of positions, but you're never a president?

and another thing... are co-president < president ?

"president" has a lot of prestige in it but it doesn't necessarily mean that the person has more leadership skills though, right? do colleges see it that way?

Your leadership skills will be a result of the deeds that were done and
the results that were achieved in your position -not your title.

There was one person a year back at my high school who
went about creating a rash of new clubs in sophomore year to be called
president of this or that. This student got on the waiting lists of three
presitigious ivies but never got admitted ot the top national schools.

okay... but still, president just FEELS better than vp.

Yeah, you're right. I'd become president of like two clubs you feel passionate about and treasurer/secretary of lesser clubs.

i actually have the same ? about 'co-prez' :-</p>

you all talk about becoming president as if it's so easy... its NOT!

it's easier at some schools than others

I remember back in high school how one club decided to make everybody a "co-President", hence the club had something like 20 co-Presidents.

My school lacks self-motivated kids, so I've pretty much taken up all the leadership positions. I'm pretty evil and have this lust for ec's.
/sarcasm ^_^

lucky. at my school everyone seems to be conniving for a leadership position, and it really frustrates me.

like during election day, they'll bring all their friends.. people who aren't members of the club.. to vote.

are school club leadership positions really that significant?

"are school club leadership positions really that significant?"
No.

oops double post

^Yes they are, for most schools they provide a more concrete basis. If you don't have a position you have to do a lot more explaining to make it appear like you did something.

Most schools don't go like "so, did you really do anything as President of your Student Government"? They assume you did, and then in the interview do another skim to be sure. Lower-tier schools just take the position and go ga-ga with it, and give you tons of scholarships.

It's not neccesary though, just it needs more explaining if you don't to show where your leadership and passion is. If you have no leadership or passion, then sorry
