Does it look bad if you are president of a club your junior year and then hold a lower position your senior year? Or if you hold leadership in a club one year but don't have any the next? Is there any way to work around this on the application so it doesn't look as bad as it sounds..?

no it is not a big deal, they dont have time to think about that, they know things change

seriously, take a chill pill and don’t stress over the minutia

I guess you could just say, Vice President of (Club) and President of (Club). It works differently for some schools, but for many you don’t specify grade.
Also, how did this happen?

Ok thanks guys! And there was just a lot of backstabbing and competition going on for the presidency in one club, I know its stupid but the drama was not worth it and I have a lot of other (more important) responsibilities next year, so I decided to step down to VP. Not a big deal, just wanted to know if it seemed weird.

'does it matter how it happened? maybe there was a coup and the cool chics or jocks tock over a club, maybe the teacher had a pet maybe they missed the election, it really isnt important

we aren’t taking demotion at a job its a hs club and one year you werent leading it no big deal
