I got a letter today saying that students who are National Merit Finalists are invited to join the Presidential Honors Scholars Program. The last line of the letter is, "We look forward to welcoming you as a Presidential Honors Scholar in September."

However, I am not a National Merit Finalist...(I was Commended). Do you have to be a National Merit Finalist in order to be invited to the Presidential Scholars Program? Did anyone else get a letter like this?

my son got something similar. He too is a National Merit commended student. But this letter said "students entering CAS who have been selected as NMSF are eligible to join the Baird Urban Experience. To join you first must confirm your status as a NMF by faxing a copy of your finalist certificate".

I can't imagine sending letters out to invite people to join something they aren't qualified for. But I think that's what they did in my son's case.

yeah im pretty confused. i got the pres scholars letter too and i'm only national merit commended. hopefully our actual acceptance letters will clear things up
