Hi everyone, i got a letter saying I was accepted as Presidential Scholar to UAlbany and that there's gonna be a luncheon for Honors students March 1 and March 15.

Im just wondering if anyone out there was accepted as Presidential Scholar too and is going to be at the luncheon. (Ill be at the March 1st one)

Really when I applied to Ualbany i was hoping to get in the SUNY Honors program since the only SUNY Honors program my grades qualified for was at albany so I'm really happy I got in.

Not sure where Ill be going just yet though - depends on my acceptances to the privates I guess (no idea how thats gonna go lol). But UAlbany Honors seems like a really great deal especially with the special attention and the $3500 scholarship...

Anyways, Congrats to all who got into UAlbany (scholars or not) - maybe I'll see you on campus soon!

1) its cheap , verry very cheap after the scholarship
2) College isnt just the rank, but what you make of it
3) UAlbany, like many other colleges have its share of bad eggs but wherever you go you'll see that professors care about their students just as the ones at ivys do - actually - you'll get more attention at a lower college than at a big college like cornell.

I guess it all boils down to - Do I wanna be just another student and try to make it big at a big college like say..U Rochester, a college that's got a great reputation
or..
Do I wanna be a part of a select group of people at a college like UAlbany and stand out?

Ive heard alot of bad things about UAlbany but also alot of great things from the people who made hte most out of it. Besides - my stats arent that great if u take into consideration my 75s in Math and Chinese. If i dont get into my top choice (Oberlin College) , UAlbany honors is a great option for me. Over the years ive found that great/smart people can be found wherever you go - even at the worst schools.

Congratulations to you both,
Awakian, Your attitude will take you far! I can assure you that Albany would provide you with excellent opportunities to shine

I also got accepted as a presidential scholar - gpa 93.something. I am going to the luncheon on the 15th, and I was asked to participate in their honors college. UAlbany is actually my first choice, mainly because of cost, location, and the fact that it's BIG - and Plattsburgh (hometown) is incredibly boring!
