Presidential Scholars...?

<p>hi everyone,</p>

<p>so today i found out i'm a finalist for the presidential scholars program.
i am very thankful, really. that being said, at risk of sounding totally ungrateful...what exactly is the point of the program? is it just a fun opportunity to meet people and tour DC? i'm just very confused as to what it is, because articles about it make it sound a bit like a self-indulgent ceremony to honor yourself. :P</p>

<p>Congrats! There’s no money involved in the program, but I’d say it’s one of the, if not the, highest honors for high school students. The alumni network is supposed to be fantastic. And yes, it’s self-indulgent. After all, to be selected, you’ve had to accomplish a lot! Congrats again</p>
