Presidential Scholarship Question

I’ve seen posts about the full tuition scholarship (presidential) before, but I haven’t been able to find info about it on their website. Is it still a thing? If so, what are the requirements?

Sure, it’s still a thing, I was offered one this year. It’s the President’s Scholarship not Presidential, so that may help with your googling. It’s awarded to both in-state and out-of-state students. I was out of state.

I believe it’s just awarded to the applicants with the highest stats. They may consider ECs and your essay too, I don’t know. If you take the time to scroll through the Class of 2022 thread, you will see posts from kids who were awarded the President’s scholarship who share their stats. I would say a rough ballpark idea to know if you’ll be in the running is around 1500+SAT/34 ACT, 3.8+ GPA, give or take a few points.

Good luck! It was a very generous award and I would have been very happy and honored to accept it and go to Temple, which I loved, but then I got into my dream/reach school which also offered a generous financial package and I could not say no.

Oh, one piece of unsolicited advice. I do not know if it’s true or not, but I was of the belief that the early bird gets the worm when it comes to scholarship money. Get your application in as soon as you can. I applied directly on the Temple portal and as I recall, it was not that arduous an effort.

I’ll second @Junior3 – those are the minimum stats I’ve seen for those getting the President’s Scholarship.

The scholarship is mentioned here: https://sfs.temple.edu/financial-aid-types/scholarships/new-incoming-students

Thanks so much for the input!!

I was awarded the President’s scholarship this year with a 1490 SAT and a 3.88 u/w gpa and a 4.6 weighted gpa. They only look at SAT and GPA for the merit aid but admit you to the university based on a holistic overview of your application. Apply early! The earlier you apply the more likely you’ll get a substantial amount of merit aid. Good luck! Are you looking to get into the honors program?
