Presidential Scholarship Recipients

So yea; I just got a letter in the mail from UF informing me I was selected as a Presidential Scholarship recipient "). I didn't fill out anything for it or anything.

Apparently I qualify for the $8000 one ($1000 a semester).

I was just curious as to who else received this scholarship and how much they were awarded. And also what their HS stats were.

I have a 4.3ish UF GPA, 24 ACTs (really low "/), and around 450 hours of community service. Also I qualify for a lot of financial aid packages due to low family income.

Yeah I got the same one. I was surprised to get it without having to apply.

did you guys get the financial aid packages?

I wouldn’t call it a financial aid package, only a letter and a bright orange confirmation paper.

So to the question, nope.

You don’t apply for the presidential scholarship. It generally used to recruit high achieving minorities. I know there are different levels. I think gold is $1000/sem and platinum is $2000/sem or something like that. In the past you had to volunteer your time for MINAMBA programs and earn points to keep the scholarship, but I think they took away that requirement. The offer use to come with the admissions letter.

For people worrying about fin aid, there is a fin aid tab on ISIS where you can check the status of you aid/award.
