Presidential Scholarship

bonee26…my brother’s oos presidential scholarship has increased each year based on increase in tuition…does not exactly keep up with increase but it does help

bbl, thanks for the info I did not know that but the starting point is still the same

That is correct the starting point is the same. Hope it works out for you guys. I am very disappointed in merit aid that I received.

does anyone know where you set your directory password or is the same one that was set up to check application status?

@lola, you need to set up a directory ID. www.sis.umd.edu/fastat/ Select Fall 2014/Spring 2015 and it takes you to a page where you can set up an ID.

@suzthorn, my D did just that, but she got the same message others are seeing. Something about ‘aid package not yet processed’.

Deleted.

Select “My Award” on the left.

D is oos and got $12k presidential.

15 minutes away from UMD, the snail mail letter arrived to confirm the presidential award observed in portal.

However, still no mention when grant award will arrive. Has anyone heard by portal or snail of grant award timing?

Another day passed, another day without any indication online in the portal or in the mail. Bummer.

@jkeil911: “still no mention when grant award will arrive”

Aren’t these grants/awards just taken off your bill for tuition (and room/board and/or other fees) after you confirm that you’re attending UMd? At least that’s how I envisioned it…

The “my awards” tab still says my file is under review. Anybody else?

@azacious I am in the same boat. By any chance, were you nominated for the Banneker Key Scholarship? I’m curious as to whether or not that is holding it up for some of us.

@ThatKidYouKnow Nah, I wish. I’m banking on a presidential scholarship. Grats on Banneker Key, though!

On the bright side, @azacious , they “promised” to have everything in terms of scholarships out of the way and dealt about by the first of April! Not too much time to go!

@jkeil, my daughter received email last year on 3/28 stating that her financial aid package was available online. I’m guessing they will be out similar time this year.

wait, so most in state kids are getting $8k? and most oos are getting $12k?

I wouldn’t say “most,” but 8k is the max for IS and 12k is the max for OOS.

My D is OOS and got 8K. She was admitted for Scholars (not Honors)
