Presidential Scholarship

My S just received an email inviting him down for three days for the next phase of the presidential scholarship. Do you think this might mean he has been accepted into the school? I would be disappointed if I took him there at the end of March only to find out he has not been accepted a couple of days later.

I'd say it means that he's probably been accepted. I can't imagine that they invite people to interview for a scholarship who they aren't accepting. Now, I've heard of one student who was deferred from ED and was later asked to interview for a scholarship and then accepted into the school (they got the scholarship, too). When I interviewed (for a different scholarship), they told us all that unless there was some extreme, extreme circumstance, we were all going to be accepted.

Thanks for the information, now it just throws another school into the equation for him and still one more to hear from (William and Mary). I don't know who it is more stressful for.........him or me!

Oh, it's not so bad...now that most of it's out of the way.

Our D had same experience at W/L - and yes indeed, when she went down for the schols interviews, she pointedly asked an adm officer if this meant she was admitted - the response was "We really want you to go here or you would not have made the short list for the Pres. scholarship."
