Has anyone been contacted to arrange an interview for merit scholarships at WF? The admissions website indicates that potential recipients will be contacted by March 1 for an interview. Have people been contacted already?

i specifically applied for a presidential scholarship and i'm a finalist (i get to go to wake in 2 days!!!!!!!! wooooo!!), so i've heard about that. as for other scholarships, i'm not sure.

Congrats and good luck!

i dont know, i saw that it was supposed to be sent out by march 1st but i havent gotten one either nad havent heard that anyone has so idk maybe there just a little late but ill keep you posted if i hear anything

Haven't heard anything our way either. Just got a postcard saying the app was complete and decisions would be out toward the end of March.

Well, maybe they are running late with their notifications. That would be good news!

i emailed the director of merit based scholarships, and she replied, "Next Tuesday afternoon we will mail letters informing students if they have or have not received merit aid."
I thought they could have at least included a little piece of paper saying that in with the acceptance letter, but oh well.

Thanks for the update, mizbiz - that's good news. I assumed that since it wasn't mentioned in the acceptance letter, it was not being awarded. I'm glad you checked. We'll see what next week brings! Good luck!

Crossing our fingers as well. Right now WFU is the most expensive option on the table.

tick tock tick tock.....can't stand all the waiting.

FLVADAD: 'tick tock tick tock.....can't stand all the waiting."

Agreed! Haven't heard a thing-

well i called hte school today and admissions said that fin aid was sent out yesterday and scholarships today sooo tommrow or the next day should be the day

I spoke with someone at WF yesterday. Merit only (not financial aid) decisions have all been made. There were 10 full scholarships - candidates were interviewed and have been selected. Other than that, they said there really aren't other merit-only opportunities for OOS - (There are a few specific NC merit scholarships. There are also some merit awards made in conjunction with financial aid).
That helps with my decision making. With acceptances and instate tuition at both William and Mary and UVA, I cannot justify the much higher price tag for WF.
Good luck to all-

Hmmm, seems like callers are all receiving conflicting information about this.

I know all the competitive scholarships have gone out such as the 10 you refer to, but I was thinking there was still be the possibility of some merit based university grants and awards out there for others -- not necessarily full awards, but some financial incentives nonetheless.

I think we'll just take a wait and see attitude and give it another few days before writing off the possibility entirely.
