Presidential Volunteer Service Award

Hi guys,

i recently heard about this. is it prestigious, or is it just a resume - padder?

do colleges really value it? If so, how much - is it equivalent to the level of something like NMSF/NMF? or is it much more like presidential scholar level achievement?

Please reply!!!

THX!!!!

I want to know this too!

My son would like to know this as well. He has earned several of these awards. I know that they basically mean “accredited volunteer hours” because only certain organizations are PVSA certified. So it is good I am guessing but not elite? IDK… I hope it is good.

…bump? anyone?

This award is nice, but no scholarships from it. My both my DDs have gold awards, and it does look good on their resume. Only certain organizations can certifiy the hours of community service. It is a way to put all of the community service hours together and have them certified. Hope that answers any questions.

You have to apply to the Prudential Community Scholarship and if you have enough hours of volunteering they will consider you. I got the award this year. It looks really good

won the gold level last year. basically, I think it just looks good to add and have on a resume.
