Presidents Leadership Class?

I’m an incoming freshman (class of 2019) and I got a postcard-type letter in the mail today from Iowa informing me I was selected to apply for the Presidents Leadership Class. I just have a few questions about this…

  1. How do they pick students for this class? Is it anything special or is it pretty basic/common to be picked?
  2. Is it difficult getting in? In other words, should I even consider trying or should I just disregard it?
  3. What is this class even like? (i.e. what do you do, does it look good on a resume, is it worth my time?)

If anyone has actually participated in this class or knows someone who has, your input would be greatly appreciated!

My daughter applied last year but was not accepted. I believe there is an essay required.
