Pretentious or Nice?

I'm trying to decide between one other university and LMU...Both are equal academically but I don't like the location of my other choice in terms of the over location and inconvenient distance from my home, where as LMU is reasonably close. The students at my other choice are incredibly friendly and nice, I'm curious to know if the students at LMU are pretentious or caddy, I don't want the highschool vibe in college and I'm worried that the students at LMU are not community orientated at college and feel they're better than eachother. Are people friendly, fun, and nice at LMU? or do you have to conform to what they think is cool?

I visited and got to go to some classes and everyone I met was super nice! People went of their way to talk to me and made me feel at home. They seemed a lot more mature than my highschool peers too. I’m looking forward to attending LMU :)

When I visited there, the one thing I noticed was how nice people were. Always smiling and willing to help. Obviously there will be immature people at any school you go to, but I was impressed with LMU.

If anyone attends LMU, would you say it’s a commuter college or do students stay and hang out on campus a lot. Are there things to do on campus and regular activities?

and thank you dancer816 & ejm105989 :)

Though I don’t officially attend LMU, I have been accepted as a sophomore transfer and have done some extensive college research! I have a dear friend who goes to LMU and he’s in love with the school. After spending the day with him and his friends, it was easy to see how easy-going they were and how willing they were to make me feel at home.

There’s no way to really classify an entire student body as being easy-going or pretentious, but I did feel like the people I encountered at LMU were very genial and happy to be attending such a beautiful school. If it’s at all possible, I would definitely recommend sitting on a class or two so you can see how everyone interacts with each other.

In all, the experience is really what you make of it, as clich

People at LMU are definitely friendly, fun, and nice. I attended LMU for 2 years, and was constantly making new friends. It’s easy to meet people since it’s a small school. I loved all of my roommates who I met through random assignment. It is not cliquey, everyone is welcoming, I always felt included. I kept in contact with almost everyone from my orientation group throughout my entire time at LMU. Greeks and non-Greeks are friends with each other as well.

Also - I would not say that LMU is a commuter school. Some people from the nearby area go home once in a while, but from my experience, they were not going home every weekend. There are things to do on weekends, and it is nice because LMU offers a service called “Lion Express” that takes you to specified areas around the nearby surrounding areas. It can take you to the airport, the beach, a nearby mall, or grocery stores. I used this a lot when I did not have my car at LMU and it was fast and easy - you just schedule a drop off and pick up time. This was especially convenient to get to and from the airport, which is so close to LMU. There are definitely more things to do if you are involved in Greek life, however.
