pretty lost, what should I do?

I currently attend the University of Arizona, but did not get into the major I chose and I am looking for something different. I live in California, and the schools in state I would want to transfer to are UCSB, UC Davis, maybe USCS, and SDSU. My only problem is now I have to wait until Fall 2012, so I would need to go to a CC for a year to be eligible for the tag, etc. If UCSB is my dream school, would I benefit by going to SBCC over a local cc in San Diego?
Another concern of mine is with the budget cuts getting worse, should I even get myself into this situation especially since there is no guarantee I would get in to a school I want? I'm worried because I would need raise my gpa in order to even have a chance (I have a 2.95) and I would have already taken 58 credits. Is it easier to get good grades at a cc? Would I be better off just transferring to another out of state school like Purdue or something? I'm just extremely confused, any help is appreciated.

You have a lot to think about. UCSB’s TAG stands at 3.2 right now so you would have raise your GPA. Also, there is no added benefit to attending SBCC as opposed to another CCC if you want to attend UCSB. SBCC used to have a special agreement with UCSB but that no longer exists. Another thing to think about is that they cap the amount of units you can have if you have units from a four year. I’m not sure what the exact number is but you want to make sure you stay under it. I hope everything works out for you.

Wouldn’t you have to do more than a year at a CC to be eligible? don’t you need at least 30 units at a CC for TAG? and TAG apps are due in November, school starts in what September? are you taking any classes at a CC this semester? and summer semester that would equal up to 30 units by time you do your TAG app in November?

I am at UA right now, I would take 30 units between the summer, fall, and spring to make me eligible for the tag. I would take some classes that I could apply towards a second major. Just not sure if it’s a good idea to go into that situation you know?
