Letters of rec from my honors language arts and AP Euro teachers as well as one from the Superintendent of Schools

I wrote my Common App essay about my struggle to identify my self as someone who moved from Africa to the United states at the age of 5. My supplement was about how I got started listening to Metal. Both were read over by a current student at Yale and were apparently fantastic

I also started a small t-shirt company with a friend that managed to get pretty popular for a while (1700 likes on facebook) and we made a decent profit.
(I want to study business in the future!)

I know my grades are not competitive but I hope they wont kill my application

Since you moved from Africa i’m guessing you are a URM?
Usually all Ivies, especially HYP would be major reaches for someone with your GPA and Test Scores. But if you are a URM, I would say they are a just a reach. Definitely not impossible.
With URM + Great Essays + Great Recs , you can be a strong applicant.
Good Luck!

Whats URM?

URM: under-represented minority

I’m going to disagree with quotable on that being a URM helps significantly in this case. Having high grades and scores is still a prerequisite. You don’t automatically have lower standards than white or Asian applicants. If you look at qualifications of many universities’ admittees, many minority students are just as qualified as students from other backgrounds.
