Preview Prep

I don’t know if maybe I just can’t understand simple instructions, but I’m completing the “Preview Prep” right now (my Preview is June 14-15) and I am on the “Identify Courses” page. They ask you to select up to 5 classes in each category (biology, phys sci, humanities, etc.) to fulfill Gen Ed requirements - do I have to do this if I plan to use AP credits to fulfill my gen eds? And why would they ask you to pick 5 for each category - that seems like far too many. If someone who has already completed this could shed some insight I’d be super grateful, thanks.

My son wondered the same thing. That section was confusing.

Just go ahead and fill it out but plan on back up classes that you know you will take for certain. They ask you to do that so the “advisor” at Preview can at least grab a class for you out of “your choices”. This is not a highly individualized process unless you are in honors. Also bring a copy of your AP?AICE?IB dual enrollment scores from the college board web site and other sources and have them in hand. I always recommend scheduling Preview AFTER AP scores come out but obviously not everyone can or wants to do that.Basically go into Preview fully aware of your major and your requirements for your college and the UF gen eds and state gen eds. PM me if you need help. Not informing yourself and not doing research for your OWN specific schedule and college is a big mistake. The loudest whining from parents and students after Preview cam from the people who did not take the time to inform themselves. They assumed the advisors at Preview would hold their hands and guide them. Not really the case for everyone. Again, I am happy to help and walk you through it and if you are interested in pre-med, physics or engineering I have more specific info about those areas.
