Previews!

So, I am pretty darn excited for the Previews in a couple of weeks! Who else is going?

I want to go, but I probably can’t unless Williams decides to give me a free ticket.

^Do they provide for your transport?

Because I got both my acceptance package and my fin. aid package, but they didn’t indicate that they’d fund for my flight trip. :frowning:

there goes all my tutoring money. But still, i MUST attend!

I want to go so badly, but I don’t think my parents will pay for the trip…

@limetime: I don’t know, I haven’t gotten my physcial acceptance packet yet. MIT and Oberlin both offered free transportation to their respective weekends (though Oberlin didn’t really need to), but they emailed me, and I haven’t gotten any sort of email from Wiliams.

I know Williams is paying for the early writes, but I am not sure about the regular decision people who received their decision on Friday.

Either way, I’d love to have everyone there. It’s really upsetting that you guys can’t make it. I can see that you’re really excited about Williams.

^WHATTTTT???

I was accepted via an Early Write, but I never got an invitation from them to pay for my tickets to Previews!!! They didn’t mention it anywhere! Not even in my (pretty generous) Financial Aid package!
and IF THEY DID, I would be SUPREMELY upset because I just booked my flight to Albany about 20 mins. ago.
headdesk headdesk headdesk facepalm

(if they really do pay for my tickets, maybe I can ask them to reimburse the flight fee?)

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

(p.s. Padiddle are you sure you don’t mean Swarthmore? because I know Swarthmore offered to fly out Early Write candidates free for the Ride the Tide weekend)

Hi everyone!

I was accepted RD and am so excited about Williams! Are you guys going to stay overnight? Are your parents going with you? The program sounds like SO MUCH FUN!

limetime: You should get an email about it with a little form regarding your diet needs, allergies, emergency contact, etc. You have to RSVP via email and the person will email you back regarding all that. And, I’m pretty sure they’ll give you the money for that, because one part of the form was your mode of transport. If not, give a call. And I am positive, I didn’t apply to Swarthmore.
I can’t remember if they said it explicitly in either my letter or my aid package, but in the email I got after I RSVPed said, “understand we’re covering you, but not your mother”.

nauset: I am so there. And my mother’s going, but they aren’t covering her. Ugh.

^ Cool, I’m expecting my package tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll get something like that.

^ Best wishes. I’m so excited it’s almost corny and I want everyone there.

…Padiddle, I RSVP’ed right after I booked the flight because the little schedule thing said to “have your travel plans ready” when RSVP’ing. So I RSVP e-mailed her with detailed description of my flight, and what time I was expecting to catch the shuttle.

sigh hopefully they’ll reimburse me. My fear is that they’ll think "Oh, since she already bought her tickets, no need for us to pay for them, she must be rich enough to have bought it without asking us first. " which is decidedly different from my line of thinking, which was “oh, so they don’t provide free transport, I guess that means I have to bite the bullet and pay for it because I really wanna go.”

I do hope they’ll reimburse me.

Now I’m thinking I misread this stuff and that my train ticket is on me. Ruh roh.

In such case, I’m going to need a glass of water to wash down the foot in my mouth.

XD hahahahahahah

Where did you read the stuff that they pay transportation for Early Writes, anyways? I’d like to know, because I was looking everywhere for a hint that they might.

I honestly can’t remember and now I’m looking for it. My mother insists that they’re paying for me, but I think both of us just had a moment and totally misread whatever we read. Oy.

FOUND IT!!!

It’s on the letter that asks you to RSVP.

“Our invitation covers your travel expenses to and from campus, overnight accomodations in student residences, and meals in the dining halls.” Second paragraph.

Really? Is that the sheet with the schedule and the purple cow?
Because I can’t find that paragraph anywhere on that sheet. And it’s not on my Early Write acceptance letter either. -__-

Second paragraph of exactly what document, please? :(

It’s got a purple stripe across the top. It is signed with purple pen. The middle of the page has the person you email’s name in bold asking you to RSVP.

It is not the sheet with the schedule or the EW letter. It’s a letter that came in that huge folder we got.

I-I definitely did NOT get something like that.

Now I’m even more worried. All I got in the Early Write folder was

 1. Early Write acceptance letter with little note at the bottom
 2. “What’s the Price of Williams Education?” thing about Fin. Aid
 3. Previews Schedule
 4. The Chronicle “The Faculty”
 5. A campus map
 6. a banner/sticker thing. I think it’s for cars.
 7. Small pamphlet named “Fast Facts”
 8. The reply envelope for enrollment.

that was it. Am I missing anything else? oh my gosh.
And the Early Write letter said there’d be a chat session for accepted students; that hasn’t happened yet, right? >_>

uncertain about everything now

LimeTime, I guess Paddiddle is the only one got that RSVP thing, we looked through every page of the documents, did not find anything like that either.
