Previous Applicants: what does it look like?

I am currently flipping between CC and my eli account. What does acceptance/rejection look like on the eli account? Is it a :) if you get in and a :( if you don't? (perhaps the opposite to be ironic?) I just wanna start bracing myself for my :( THANKS!

This information can be easily found on the interweb; google should be your best friend:

If you get accepted, a small anthem will play on the Eli Account and the screen will turn blue with Yale’s insignia(?) in the center.

Slightly different question, but does anyone know how well the website loads on a mobile device? Because that’s most likely what I’ll be checking on

Several years ago, it took my son an hour to get on Yale’s website from his computer. He kept getting a message the server was busy and to try again later.

The following description accurately depicts the acceptance notice in previous years.

That’s not depressing at all…

^ Agreed lol. So if there’s not a whole lot of commotion, you already know you weren’t accepted.

Just as what gibby said, last year my daughter couldn’t log in for over 2 hours due to busy server.

Maybe that’s a good thing. At least for me :/

They mail out all regular decisions right? Before if their EA is overloaded that much…I couldn’t imagine RD with everyone going online!

Regular decisions are online and by mail (if you are accepted), I believe. I recall reading somewhere that Yale only mails people acceptance letters, but I’m not 100% sure.

Well, actually, my D didn’t get the bulldog song at all. Turns out you have to have Java installed… at least on a PC – can’t speak for Macs or other OS’s. But as for SCEA last year, she had no trouble getting on the server, but the decision wasn’t up till some time after 5. You could sign in, but there didn’t appear to be a way to look for the decision. Eventually, a new button appeared where none had been before. D was deferred, so had to check again in spring, and that time it took her an hour to get into her account. BTW the CC website also crashed, both times – so predictable!

lol that is incredibly cheesy of Yale.

Well, I’ll make sure I check my result on a computer just in case I won’t be rejected and the animation runs on flash.

Will you be able to start the animation over?

If memory serves me, D got aprinted copy of the deferral letter. It was quite a nice letter, actually.

Was it colorful? Or perhaps even sparkly?

You can run the animation over. I figured out the problem about a month later, and then D played it over a bunch of times till her younger sister threw something at her.

For what it looks like, see post 6 above.

Has anyone here seen Ivy Dreams, the documentary available on YouTube? One of the students featured got accepted to Yale and the screen mentioned on this thread is displayed and all that.

If you’re a parent following this thread, I would advise NOT telling your kid that a tune plays, etc. It will make it more fun if he’s accepted, and perhaps a bit less painful if he’s rejected and doesn’t hear anything. Some things it’s better not to know in advance.
