Priceline or Hotline-SLO Hotels

I reserved Quality Suites for this weekend for a campus visit (couldn’t make it to Open House weekend) and was wondering if I should instead try using Priceline (2 1/2 stars or 3). Anyone have any experience with Priceline or Hotline bookings?

My friend told me go to [Travel Deals, Cheap Airfare, Vacation Deals, Car Rental, and Discount Travel - SmarterTravel.com](http://www.smartertravel.com)

She got a great deal!

I tried bidding one time for a 3 star hotel in SLO, but it was rejected. I know I bid low, so I wasn’t surprised. It was during Open House weekend and getting close to the date, so I had to hurry and find something. We usually stay at Quality Suites, but they were charging a lot more that weekend, as were all the hotels. I ended up staying at the Villa Motel across the street. It had only 5 online reviews that I could find, but everyone of them was good. No, it’s not “luxury”, but the room was very large and clean with a fresh smell. It worked fine for one night. I spent most of my time on campus or downtown, anyway.

I would consider trying Priceline again, especially during the off-season or not during a large event like Open House or Move-In day. I imagine you can get some bargains during the slower times.

I use Hotels.com pretty frequently.

We stayed at the Qualtiy Suites over spring break. It was nice, but expensive for the type of hotel it is. IMO. I have booked the Holiday Inn Express for the night before move-in and for Friday and Saturday night of Parent’s weekend. It had good reviews and is right outside the entrance to the school so we can walk if need be and not worry about parking.

I almost booked Apple Farm b/c it looks so cute. Has anyone ever stayed there? I have driven past the Madonna Inn for years. I am going to have to break down and stay there at least once over the next 4 years. LOL!

I’ve stayed at several hotels along Monterey near Grand and one was the Apple Farm. It has great ratings, but perhaps that was for the main hotel. We stayed in the motel section and I wouldn’t go back. The room was quaint but really musty and my eyes were irritated the entire time. I did spend some time in my friend’s room in the main hotel and it was much nicer and more spacious than the motel room.
