Despite its smaller size (smallest among the top 10 schools listed below with 6,000 students), Princeton has attracted more interest at CC (in terms of postings) than any other school. This is an interesting point because not only does Princeton seem to have a high degree of spirit at the college level (particularly if you use, as does US News, its record high alumni giving rate as a proxy for its school spirit) but you now also have a super high degree of spirit at the applicant/outsider level.

I have always thought the cc threads actually reflect the universities pretty well. Yale thread, very verbal, intellectual, a little anxious. Harvard, very focused on chances and the myth of Harvard, true or not. Princeton, very social and kind of friendly with some serious math and engineering types and pockets of serious humanities and serious performing artists.

I agree with Alumother. The Princeton forum is really social...back during ED pretty much everyone knew each other and people waited to hear back from certain posters. I haven't seen that kind of "community" on any other school forum.

Also, our games are fun and much more constructive than freaking out about every minute detail (which we kind of sometimes do anyway).

Because the Princeton student is the most terrified of the process and must check the board obsessively lololol.........only kidding please dont freak out because I said that.

Haha that's another thing...you don't generally see people completely getting hostile and angry on the Princeton forum.

No worries, I really don't care and I'm certainly not offended, I know I'm probably mildly obsessive about the Princeton forum as are a lot of other people.

I assume when you say the smallest school you're referring to the total grad + undergrad population. Because I know MIT is smaller than Princeton when considering undergrad population only.

Isn't it amazing though that the spirit and happiness of the applicant pool in this forum mirrors that of the Princeton student population. This is by far the most lively and active college forum at CC.

jo7, being mildly obsessive about Princeton is nothing unusual. Why wouldn't you be obsessive about the top ranked school in the nation that is also the second most beautiful, the second most happy, the most generous in fin. aid and one of the nation's leaders in quality of life. And there's plenty more beyond that!

sklog, yes the 6,000 I mentioned includes P'tons undergrad and grad population.

I don't quite agree on this because most kids who apply to Princeton also apply to other Ivies and Stanford and MIT. Though Princeton is the only Ivy that I applied to, when I wander in other schools' threads I can recognize many CCers who also applied to Pton, ED or not.

But the Pton box totally rules!!!!! :D No other schools have so many posts and chats and talks about everything like in here. :D

Trangham - sure I know that. I also know I'm trading in very broad generalities here. However, the kids who post most here, commit themselves to this board, and don't forget the EDers who don't apply anywhere else, they do seem to be the most "regular kid" like of the uber-selectives, followed very very closely by Stanford.

I recognize also, that this is not a scientific study:).
