Just a personal story/current status on college journey that I wanted to share,
So far I got rejected from all my top choices- UCLA, JHU, and Stanford. In ways, I am losing hopes for Princeton and other great schools I applied to. But through crying and mopping, punching walls, and reevaluating myself, I figured that I learned to accept.
I believe that there are more of you out there who are in the same boat as I am. But I just wanted to say that we got this, never lose your hope and always seek the slightest opportunities presented in front of you. Don’t let rejections defeat you, don’t let reevaluations make you doubt your self-worth. The journey hasn’t come to a stop yet, the victory is yet to come. Fight on soldiers, and accept who you are.
way to go. THis is just the beginning of your journey
has anyone had an interview
Son had his late January
lucky
Very casual. If you missed out I would not be concerned.
What exactly is the deal with Princeton interview? I know officially it is supposed to be based on alumni availability but has anyone ever been admitted without getting an offer for interview?
I would much rather like to know that my journey at Princeton is over than hold onto false hope of interviews being meaningless. So if anyone has any precedence/insight into this, I’d much appreciate it.
(International student here btw)
I’m an alumnus who does interviews for the university. Princeton literally tries to interview everyone, and typically more than 95% of applicants are interviewed each year (I think last year it was close to 98%). If someone doesn’t get an interview, it’s due to lack of local alumni to conduct an interview, to a mistake or to unusual circumstances (e.g., the interviewer assigned to the applicant didn’t receive notification, or was in the hospital, or something like that). I expect that this year the percentage of students who were interviewed was be lower than usual, since the number of applicants increased by several thousand and the pool of alumni interviewers was essentially the same size as before.
Although the interview can, in theory, help an applicant’s chances, I suspect that in the vast majority of cases it has little effect. And it’s worth noting that, unfortunately, more than 90% of applicants who have an interview are not accepted to the university anyway.
Bottom line: If you didn’t get an interview, don’t worry. The university will ignore the lack of an interview and evaluate you using the other information they have.
@losingit This is what we have been told by many. Also, our interviewer had recommended students who did not receive admission and vice versa.
My son has gotten admitted so far to some highly selective schools and didn’t receive an interview for them…so not to worry!
I don’t believe the interview matters too much at this school.
Hi everyone! I have a question. So far I’ve been rejected by 4 schools and waitlisted by 1 with no acceptances. Do you think that I might still have at least the slimmest chance to get accepted to Princeton? Have you heard of people who get rejected by all schools and then get into an Ivy?
depends on the schools you have been rejected and waitlisted from
I got rejected from Case Western, Pomona, Yale and Tufts, and WL at Trinity College.
ohh man, I’m in exactly the same situation like yours.
- Rejected : MIT, Franklin & Marshall, Macalester, Colgate
- Waitlisted : URichmond
I really love Princeton and it is my dream college. (But I don’t know why I had two dreams in the last week, went like getting accepted to Yale; both times being rejected by Princeton)
Hoping for the best, and preparing for the worst
PS : I’m an international (Indian), no APs as our school don’t offer them but honestly my curriculum is at the same rigor if not lower than the APs, test-optional and require full aid (EFC is $6k per annum)
I’m also international asking for a lot of FA. I think it’s not easy when almost all schools are need aware for international applicants. I really hope to get an acceptance on Ivy day because I only have 2 schools left.
That might be the problem. Only MIT, Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Amherest college are need blind rest are all need aware for international students
i got rejected from Uchicago, Michigan, Washu, Northwestern, Swarthmore, and Willams, but I got accepted to Middlebury and Cornell (Likely letter) so yup.
I got rejected from Colgate, Bates, Williams, Middlebury, Mount H, Wellesley, Smith, Trinity, Skidmore, and Colby and have one waitlist Bowdoin.
I did need full aid since Im applying as an individual. Anywayyy
ivy day gonna make me rope, i got rejected from top schools already (MIT, Penn, Northwestern, Amherst)
