no, i think they just want your documents… sorry to disappoint. but don’t lose hope!
I received it too!
Has anybody received an invitation for an interview? I’m an international student and I haven’t heard anything yet… getting kinda concerned!
yeah same, I also haven’t got any mail for interview.
But I think that they’ll contact you soon, may be by the end of Jan, if you’re offered an interview
I received an invitation for an interview last week. I think it is just based on the availability in your area.
May I ask which metropolitan or area you are? Anyone from DC metropolitan has received an invitation yet? Thanks
We’re in the DC metro area and my daughter had her Princeton Alumni Interview today. She was contacted last weekend to schedule. I don’t think it necessarily means anything that you haven’t been contacted yet. I hear that some Alum are very prompt in setting up their interviews and some take a little more time. Don’t read too much into it.
Thank you for your information. That is very kind of you. Good luck to your daughter’s application.
Hi, Princeton alum and interviewer here. Just wanted to chime in and say do not worry whatsoever about whether and when you get an interview request. It has nothing to do with the content of your application. The admissions office wants to interview as many applicants as it can. But it totality depends on volunteer alumni availability generally, and the schedule of the alum assigned to you specifically. So if, for example, another applicant in your area gets an interview way sooner than you, it’s just because they happened to be assigned early and that interviewer happened to do it promptly. So, I repeat, whether and when you get an interview is not based on the content of your application (which alums never see and don’t need to, by the way).
I’m not revealing any secrets here. Just reiterating what some have already alluded to in hopes of relieving any unnecessary stress.
Good luck!
thanks for this! would you be able to shed some light on how interviewers evaluate applicants?
Unfortunately, I don’t think I will be as helpful here But the best answer I can give is that it may be better to think of us more as reporters and less as evaluators. The only evaluation we’re making is just the impression we have of you based on our conversation. This is not much different from how you yourself would consider the impression made on you by someone you were chatting with for the first time . The interview is not intended to test your knowledge or anything like that, but to learn about who you are and your interests and to answer your questions. To suggest that we play a more significant role than that would be disingenuous imo (not that our interview reports are insignificant, but we ourselves don’t play much of a role in deciding anything).
My daughter has not been contacted re: an interview. Does Princeton try to interview most applicants?

Yes. If an interviewer is available, your daughter will be offered an interview. Last year 98% of applicants were offered one.
Ok, she still hasn’t heard yet!
Princeton’s new decision date, as well as the rest of the ivies (im guessing), has changed to April 6th at 7 PM ET.
Ivy Day has been announced as April 6. Likely the result of an increase in applications.

… damn that makes me feel nervous
do you know how many applicants there are this year?
No. But Harvard said they got 57K vs 40K last year.
It will be really interesting to see P application numbers, esp given they were the only school (that I am aware of) to remove SCEA for this year.
