In previous years, it looks like Princeton sent out an email for the date to SCEA applicants about a week before the actual decision date (two weeks for the Class of 2019), so I assume it’ll be the same thing this year
How about last year? Did they send out acceptance emails a week before December 15th? I thought all decisions were out on 12/15.
Well, last year Princeton released decisions on Wednesday, December 16. The Princeton Admissions Twitter didn’t say which day it would be until Monday, December 14. I think that they’ll probably let us know what day by the Monday the 12th this year.
Also, I have an interesting tidbit of information for those who’d like to speculate about where they are in the admissions process!
I submitted an arts supplement (as a Youtube video) and my YouTube analytics say that someone viewed my arts supplement less than an hour ago! It’s unlisted, meaning only those with the link can view it, so I’m positive that it was Princeton. Weird that they would be reviewing supplements on a Saturday night like this, no?
There is no doubt they are working on the weekends
@GoTiger2000 Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was during work hours on the weekend, but 9:30 PM on a Saturday? That’s dedication!
@GoTiger2000 That’s crazy/weird! Thanks for sharing
what about websites? edit: also when do they stop reviewing?
@probsrejected A GC at my school (ex-Pton AO) said that if you include links in your “additional information” section, they are not very likely to view it. However, they do really make an effort to review each arts supplement, so if you submitted it as such then they’ll definitely have a look.
it wasn’t an arts supplement, just an EC and mentioned in my essay. oh well
For anyone who submitted an arts supplement, did anyone not get a confirmation email? When I go on the website, it shows the date submitted and everything, I just didn’t get an email.
@gmanhx thanks for intel from an ex-AO, but in our case, my son’s website link was only in the additional information section of the CA, and yet it was still visited. Maybe things changed, or were different last year?
Since you have such a great resources as a GC, can you share any other tidbits?
I made a results thread!

@psywar I apologize if I was unclear; I didn’t mean to say that they NEVER check links from the Additional Information section. What I meant was that admissions officers are not obliged/required to open links in the additional information section if they feel that doing so might be unnecessary/too time consuming.
If you submit your link as an arts supplement, however, you are pretty much guaranteed to have your website viewed. Now, I recognize that most websites don’t fit under one of the arts supplement categories, but I was just throwing that information out there.
The only other tidbits my guidance counselor has shared with me are the following:
- With a 2290 SAT & 4.3 GPA, I will definitely pass the ‘academic filtering’ process; for me, it will come down to ECs, recs, and essays.
- Princeton looks favorably upon applicants who are invited to and attend Princeton’s Creative Arts & Humanities Symposium in October.
- Pton prefers that additions/updates to your application (after having sent it in) be a) limited and b) sent to the general undergraduate admission office email rather than to your regional officer.
- Arts supplements are reviewed by the department of the category you submitted (i.e. my theater one was reviewed by a member of the theater department). The professor takes some notes and writes a short recommendation to the adcom. At worst, arts supplements are neutral; they will never hurt you.
I recently sent an email asking if she knew anything about the release date. I’ll let you know what she says in response.
@gmanhax do they review every arts supplement?
@supercilious Not 100% sure, but I believe that they do, unless Princeton is way out of the applicant’s league academically.
Hey guys. SCEA applicant from an international region (United Arab Emirates) here. I have a few inquiries, and I would be glad if any of you could address them.
- When I submitted my application, there was an old SAT score of 2200 on record along with 800s in three subject tests. My ACT score (35) was received by Princeton on the 21st of November while my new SAT score (1550) reached Princeton in the last few days of November. My question is: did my latest (much better) test scores reach in time for the rounds of 'academic filtering' that gmanhax refers to?
- I had my first semester grades in exams and scored 97% (Indian board - CBSE). However, my report card was issued only a few days back. As I feel these grades are quite an improvement over my previous 94% from Grade 11, I'd like to send them in. But will they reach in time to be considered in committee evaluation rounds?
- This question pertains to some thoughts that are coming up in my mind as the decision release date nears. I was just curious to know - are there many applicants to Princeton (from the United States) who have done commendable work in the environmental field? (I ask, because in the UAE, although internships opportunities aren't available for students, the country puts large emphasis on environmental activities. I don't mean to say that everyone takes part in them at a significant level, but it's likely for a student here to have done some environmental work. Personally, I won AED 30,000 for my school and was on the planning team for a solar films project that reduced electricity consumption by 15%. I'd also like to mention here that my school is very large - 5000 students - and competitive, and that I do have regional and national awards in science, public speaking, karate. I consider my environmental activities to be the thing that gives me an 'edge' over others, but I'd like to know if my belief is wrong).
Any replies would be greatly appreciated. I wish all of the applicants best of luck for their decisions!
@derpro 1) even if your latest test scores didn’t reach Princeton before the so-called academic filtering, I highly doubt your application would have been tossed out; a 2200 is a respectable score. 2) again, not sure, but it wouldn’t hurt to send them 3) if you’re trying to gauge how unique your extracurriculars are—they sound pretty impressive to me. it just comes down to the way you presented them.
@derpro for number 2 i think it takes maybe 3 business days at the least for them to recieve anything you send them. So i think theres a small chance theyll actually look at the new scores considering its late in the application process, however, i could be wrong so there’s really no harm in sending them in if they seem them they see them if they dont they dont
Can anyone give insight into where the committee is rn? Are they done with everyone or going through the maybes again?
