4. Continue building my Art Portfolio (Current Theme is Oppression in the World (Poverty, Darfur, etc)

*Please, Please can you suggest other ways I can make my summer productive since this gives me a lot of time to spend on things I really like. Also, how important is it having a job? I really want a job, but its so hard to find jobs that tie in my interests in this area. Can you please suggest some, and whether or not you think a job is important. (I have for sale, working on creating various designs for tshirts, etc through CaféPress) Any other ideas for Social Activism?

Also, what are ways to get some national or local recognition. I do so much, but I fear none of this will really be conveyed to the admissions officers. It always seems like kids who get all these awards like National Science or Forensics, etc awards get in. Like I've done so much, but some of it has just been personal motivation, how will they ever really know?

I am a minority. (Indian) (I know it won’t make a difference since so many Asians apply.)

If you read this far, thank you so much. That is all I can say. =]

Honestly, you probably won't get in.

okay, thanks. any reply is helpful.
i was just wondering if you could provide why you think so. there is obviously a reason, or a weakness you see in the information i provided.
thanks again.

Hey mallika,

I was recently accepted to Princeton along with one of my classmates, so I think I have a pretty good idea of how the whole college thing works.

Overall, I think you have a good chance at getting into Princeton. But you do need to raise your SAT scores. To be brutally honest, a 2200 isn't gonna cut it for an Asian. You're going to need a 2300+. Also, aim for a 750+ on your SATII's. Have you taken the ACT? A lot of my friends have, and did better on it than the SAT.

Secondly, do you happen to live in a competitive region? In other words, do you think you're more qualified than the other people who would apply to Princeton in your city/region?

Make sure to write good essays. This is your way to present yourself in a way other than as numbers.

You still have a summer to work towards your goal. It may not seem like much, but the way you spend it can definitely help you. Make sure Princeton isn't the only Ivy you apply for. There are plenty of other good schools as well that may accept you, even if Princeton rejects you (I was accepted to Princeton and Yale, but rejected at Harvard). Lastly, good luck, and I hope to see you next next year!

You dont need to be told that you probably wont get in. No kidding right? But you do have a chance and thats what matters. Anyone who applies to princeton probably wont get in.

Just like any other qualified applicant, you've got a shot. However, as has been said, BROADEN your applications. Apply to more selective schools and you've got a better shot at getting in to at least 1 of them.

your essay will be the deciding factor between in and out

yea im praying i can boost up my SAT to 2300 +, an yes I am planning on taking the ACTs. Who knows I may do better on that? Unfortunately, I am coming from a competitive area. The Tampa Bay area in Florida. Within my school there are atl least 2 or 3 others who are considering Princeton. I am quite confident that I stand out above those students, except of course, the weakest of those students just happens to be a legacy. That might just screw my chances over.

As evidently proven this year, Princeton has become a humongous monster to beat(even more than it already is). Princeton is possible; yet you must have some kind of concentration in your ECs- not just a laundry-load.
Good luck anyways :)

PS: FYI, Indian DEFINITELY isn't a minority. You'll be an ORM.
