Welp. I got deferred. Basically a soft rejection. I’ll still write a letter of continued interest though. Everyone else? Anyone get accepted or outright rejected?
Omg and they got 5000 applications.
I got deferred. Does anyone know the acceptance rate for those who were deferred and when we should expect results?
i have also been deferred rip
My DS got in!
Hi don’t worry-
@fretfulmother Hi, super congrats to your kid!!! If you don’t mind me asking, what are her stats? Most impressive ECs? I just wanna know what they’re looking for.
I am devastated even though I tried to convince myself all day that I could not be sad when I inevitably got deferred. 48% non-white people and I am a white girl from a relatively affluent town. Not to mention I have no national achievements. I feel useless right now.
@fretfulmother - can u pls share stats…just to see what they look for…
Sure, 4.0 uw, 1550, 36, 800 times four subject tests.
Maybe a dozen ap tests all 5s
Usamo, usncho, primes
Student council four years with top role this year, summer research, x country, science and math teams, dance, volunteering in after school with kids.
I think good letters too.
Also his brother graduated P last spring, no other connection or hooks.
And thank you!
Congrats to your son! @fretfulmother That must be so exciting!
And for the rest of us who didn’t get admitted, my friend who got rejected from Stanford just last week gave me some advice that sounds pretty good:
“Give yourself a day to grieve and then move onto more apps. Don’t let this hinder you in furthering the app process.”
We aren’t done applying to college yet, so let’s not completely let it go. Stay on top of your grades and let’s get our regular decision apps done with our full attention
Likewise deferred…
Now I have a lot more apps to do…
Just curious… @ChonkpurCheetah, did you get in?
Sorry to those who got deferred and congrats to those who got in. It is a tough blow. My son has 1570 (800 math), 4.0, 5 on 8 APs, 800 on multiple subject matter tests and has been taking math at an Ivy League school for two years and taking two 300 level classes there next semester (straight As and an A+).
It is just a really competitive process.
@Supportivefather - did your son get in?
My daughter just got deferred—5’s on all APs taken (8) , 36 ACT, Girl Scout Gold Award, member 2nd place state cross country team, multiple extra curriculars, National Merit semi finalist etc…Congratulations to all that were accepted—incredible group of kids
No. Sorry I wasn’t more clear. Deferred.
A lot of great kids are having a rough evening.
Yes, I’m so sorry and sending them best wishes!!
