Princeton Early Action Class of 2024

My interviewer appears to be a recruited athlete and emailed me in all lowercase hahaha should be a pretty laid back interview.

@benandjerrys101 good luck!

My daughter applied on 11/1 and has not heard about an interview yet. I assume they would want all interviews done by end of November?

@dinjimh You’re right, they probably do, but don’t fret because there’s still two weeks left in November, and since she applied on the last day for early action, she should get the interview request later. I think they’re working on interviews based on who applied first.

I realized there doesn’t seem to be a discussion thread for this yet. Feel free to post your stats, intended majors, SCEA or RD and why you love Princeton, etc.

My DS received Information about the interview through his portal on Monday evening but didn’t receive anything from his interviewer. This morning he sent out an email to his interviewer and got an instant reply, the gentleman was very relieved to have been contacted by DS as he wants to have the interview done ASAP too. (He might have sent an email but with wrong address? We don’t know but things happen.)

If any of you have received notification from the portal for a day or two yet you have not heard back from your interviewer, reach out with a polite email.
Good luck everyone!

Not really. My son applied in early October, and a Princeton alum didn’t contact him until a few days ago.

@hegebe I finished my application in October as well, and I just got my interview last week. However, @dinjimh 's daughter applied on the last day of SCEA, so what I think is that her daughter will get the interview later because she applied later than both of us. However, I don’t know if this is true or not, I’m just making an educated guess.

I applied only a few days before the deadline and got contacted about 2 weeks ago. Not sure time of submission has anything to do with it, probably just location.

If anyone has interviewed already, feel free to drop some general tips on what they ask specifically! She just told me to be prepared to say why I feel I am a good fit for Princeton.

Hi everyone,

For those of you who mentioned seeing alumni interview information on your applicant portal – where do you go to see that? I don’t see anything about it on mine.

I applied on Oct 31 so I understand that my interviewer will contact me later than others but I’m kind of anxious about not having received an email yet. I live in a densely populated suburban neighborhood and another student from my school who applied SCEA has already received their interview date.

Thanks!

@benandjerrys101 definitely be prepared to answer why you got drawn to Princeton and what if offers. Also, if there’s one area that you are really interested in, just be passionate about it and show it off. My interviewer specifically said that they want students that are just deeply curious, and if you are deeply curious about something, don’t be afraid to show it off!

@sciencegirl2024 There’s still time for them to interview people, but I think that you should look out for an email from them sometime next week, hopefully. If not, don’t worry about it! An interview won’t make or break your application! Sometimes in densely populated areas, they won’t be able to give interviews to everyone, and Princeton states in their admissions website that not having an interview WILL NOT hurt your chances of getting accepted.

Good luck!

@benandjerrys101
My DS’ interview is next week, his interviewer asked him to send him his resume, stating he is not interested in his test scores/GPAs, as that will be AOs’ focus. DS’ friend who has done the interview stating the interview was very chill/layback. I guess each interviewer might have some guidelines but exactly how it is done, could be individualized.
And from all the things I read here and elsewhere, the interview process seems to be more an icing on the cake, the cake (which you have submitted and the AOs read/eat?) is what makes or breaks the application, the icing is nice to have, but by itself, it won’t affect much of the end result.

Did you guys bring a resume to your interview? And did you do any sort of prep? Thanks for all of the tips!!

@benandjerrys101 didn’t bring my resume to my interview(I really didn’t think I needed it because I already listed everything I did on my common app) and yeah, I basically l just looked on the Princeton site about everything from academics to clubs to after graduation. And just relax. It’s really about getting to know you and seeing that you’re more than just another applicant. You got this!

Ok yes my daughter did get her email from the interviewer this weekend!
She was also wondering about resume. Do they actually look at it?

@dinjimh I didn’t even bring a resume to my interview, and I really don’t think you need it. Technically, your daughter should have already listed her extracurriculars and her education on her common app/coalition app, and at least for me, she didn’t really ask about things that your resume would cover. She should still bring it just in case her interviewer asks for it, but I don’t think it’s a necessary part of the interview.

@riazuluaga14 Thanks for your input! Very much appreciated.

@dinjimh No problem! Wishing you and your daughter the best of luck, and hopefully we’ll see each other at Princeton next year! :smile:

Starting to worry about getting an interview. In the Chicago area, haven’t been notified. However, I did apply right at the end of the deadline on 11/1.

My interview is coming up on the 21st. Somewhat nervous but also excited.

Also, @benandjerrys101 slide the snap group this way :sunglasses:
