You know what, I AM worried...these are gonna be a crazy couple of weeks...
If you all don't see me on here much, you'll know why.
I will be SO relieved when the thing is in the mail.

Dude, I just came to the decision last night to even apply early to pton, I don't understand how all these people have already mailed in their apps to pton? Did you guys even look at other schools and do any form of research, I really cant imagine myself making my decision any earlier than I did.

Some people have been researching since the end of junior year and before. No, we didn't jump the gun. We just prepared ahead of time.

I'd say I'd have to agree with Tobsta, at my school we are told not to do any college stuff untill our senior year, and we have the highest percentage of kids going to HYP, and one of the best guidance counselors in the nation (according to the New York Times at least). In fact, we have to hand him our app on Oct. 31st, so that he can send it in just before the deadline. So all you kids who filled out your pton app as soon as your first baby tooth fell out are clearly wrong.

'Wrong'? Why so? I'm one of the 'late ones' and I really wish I had done all of this this summer. It is so much smarter...as it is I'm falling behind in classes in order to finish everything on time. Not good at all...

I hardly think anyone filled it out as soon as their "baby tooth fell out." Some people have more than enough to do during the school year, so it's only logical to get as much done during the summer as possible. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to do it. The important thing is trying to get in. Period. It doesn't matter when.

Yeah, I'm going to be pushing the deadline as well. I'm waiting for an author to finish commenting on my creative writing portfolio, and he won't be done until this weekend at earliest. Then I'm going to need several days to edit before it's ready to send off with the rest of my application. Whew, I hope postmarking it on Nov. 1st will really be okay...

Edit: "So all you kids who filled out your pton app as soon as your first baby tooth fell out are clearly wrong."

Sorry, I'm not so sure about that. I toured colleges in July and my visit to Princeton then convinced me that it is the best place for me. Further research only confirmed what I felt during my visit. I started filling out the Princeton application the day it came online, and I'm thankful I did. An early start allowed me to spend six weeks perfecting my essays and as a result, I say without a doubt that they're the best work I could have possibly produced.

Why is it wrong that other people are efficient? I decided to apply ed in early september and did my whole app in like two weeks. I, for one, don't work well under pressure and I'm glad it's all sent. Where do you go to school QRZ8700? Maybe your school doesn't have to worry so much because it has such a good reputation.

How do you guys know whether your recs are done? I just gave the forms to my teachers and hoped that they would get it in in time. I didn't even bug them about it yet.

I know one of the teachers really well..she's a family friend, too (yea!), so she keeps me posted on the progress.

You're retarded.

You guys all did your visits in July? Did the buidlings really convince you that pton is the place to be? Or was it the students...OH WAIT THERE WERE NO STUDENTS THERE!!!!!! Making visits in July is the biggest waste of time, all you get out of it is whether or not the architechture is nice, which you can do by going on-line. If i hadnt made a visit to brown during the school year, I would have applied early there, and obviously that would have been a mistake.

And you're mean...I guess if you were a student I had met there, I wouldn't be applying...

I don't know that I wouldn't be applying, but meeting that kind of attitude might've taken the edge off my Princeton enthusiam...here's to a deferral for our new friend. (Unless it's a kid pranking like the one who was on a Harvard board not too long ago.)

I'd go for a flat out rejection =)
But yea, pranksters, who knows?

And Kebree, you can go online at all sorts of times during the day because you're homeschooled? That's very cool. I'm kinda...um, cutting school now =/

Senioritis strikes back!

I'm feelin it too...I go to U. of Ky for high school credit...weird, I know...taking 16 hrs, which is not cool at the moment. Esp. w/calc and physics...and I'm not a sci/math person. ouch.

gotta major calc test at 7pm tonight i haven't studied for. Wow, I am losing it. Senioritis should be a diagnosed disease.

Whoa, what's with these prayers for deferrals and rejections, I thought we were all High School Seniors here, and thus mature enough to handle people with different views and opinions. Are you guys really that Immature that you can just pray for people on here to get rejected and deferred, instead of accepting people's opinions, and then responding with your own? I mean come on guys. Come on.

I have no problem w/ different opinions...just the "you're retarded [for visiting in July/getting your app. in early]" type comments. You may not have meant it as an insult (and in that case, I apologize), but it sure sounded like one...plus it made absolutely no sense. I know we're all going through this together as seniors, so let's keep the name-calling to a minimum. Good luck w/ your app (I'll certainly need it on mine).

And saying "you're retarded" is extremely mature?
Anyway, since you seem so cool and confident, you should be able to withstand the negative prayers =)

I've got a quick question regarding waiting to send apps, as was discussed earlier.

Do you guys think that its alright to wait until december 15th to mail other apps even if the school requests you return the part 1 and app fee asap? Georgetown would be an example.

Wait till Dec 15, I say. asap is a bit ambiguous.

z00b: Like legendofmax said, I would wait until Dec. 15. The schools just want to try and get a head start on filing, and they won't hold it against you if you send it in right at the deadline. They know that a lot of kids are procrastinators.
