We'll miss you, Phil...are you still going to be on AIM or are you avoiding us altogether? (Don't worry, I'm j/k...and I should be doing the same thing because of Dead week/finals.) Have fun, and good luck in 9 or 10 or so days. We'll all need it.

Yeah, it's going to be weird. But not too much different from this past week. No one seems to be around anymore. Maybe everyone's scurrying off preparing themselves for next week or something. I'll be on AIM, though, so we'll have to chat it up...if people would get on, that is ;) Best of luck to you too, kat2

I think people are just really starting to feel the pressure/nerves pour on...I know I am. Today at church I had at least 7-10 people ask me about Princeton's decision. I don't really mind it, but it does make me think about it more...

I guess it is good to know that so many people care, and many of them were also asking me about my other choices....and the more I was talking about them, the more I realized I would be happy to attend those, too. (Princeton would be great, but Yale, UVa, Williams, etc. also offer a lot and are similar in many respects.) So for me, the interest has largely been helpful.

EDIT: Thanks, phil. Haha...I think I'll be faintly green by the time next week rolls around. What about you?

Oh yeah, yesterday I had no less than 5 people ask me. And I just tell them all the same thing, "One week! Gah!" The nerves are understandable. It's just weird, because this is when I thought the forum would be the busiest...

EDIT: I'll be bed-ridden, with a cold towel on my forehead and Days of Our Lives playing in the background. I'll call to my mother for some asprin, but she'll be too busy rolling her hair. So I'll sit...with nothing but my destitution to comfort me. Hehe

Also, in response to Dizzymom's post, this board is unusual. Because (when you think about it) we are really competing against each other. Princeton may put some stock in regional quotas (though they promise they don't), but by the time those applications hit the committee room floor, we're competitors. Yet it's never felt that way...I hope it doesn't become so after the letters start arriving. It will certainly be hard to be split into such distinct groups (acceptance, deferral, rejection) after having spent the last few months commiserating and encouraging each other.

Kebree, before you go on your 'hibernation' (:p) I just wanted to tell you that my sister and I checked out your paintings and THEY ARE AWESOME! She paints and I do a bit of pencil shading/sketching too but nowhere near that level.

The only thing that is going to depress me is that I have a feeling I am going to be the only one of our "group" to not get in. Honestly, it would be so typical for me, the story of my life!

Not to wish anyone ill will, but if I don't get in, I'm hoping someone else here (of the core 6-10 of us) won't get in either - so that we can bask in our depression together.

I know, Kebree! It's been the strangest thing. Even from the first time I stepped foot in the old Princeton forum's door, it never felt like competition. It was always like...well, a family. The people here are incredibly supportive, and it's going to be incredibly difficult to have to split the family up next week. It's almost like having your brothers and sisters taken away from you.

Though I might not be in the "core 6-10" I think I might lend you a shoulder (and you lend me yours) :p Coz I'm not getting in..... I know this :)

ilcapo- I think (honestly, too) that you have an excellent chance because of your political involvement/artistic ability/writing ability/etc. Rank should not completely trump those accomplishments, and if it does, then Princeton doesn't have its priorities in line. Unless your rank indicates you didn't work (which I doubt yours does), it shouldn't be a reason for an "auto-reject". Don't be concerned about it...if you don't get into Princeton, then you have a lot of great options. I've thought that Brown would also be a good match for you, given what I know (which is admittedly not a lot)---and the Brown adcoms are more forgiving of rank-type issues and would love to have someone with your EC's.

Edit: mercurysquad--thanks! Did you send a portfolio to Princeton? I bet they laughed when they saw all those paintings of Princeton...I wonder if anyone else did that.

And I probably won't be able to go into full hibernation. My willpower isn't quite what gianievve's (and potentially Phil's) is, so I'll be around some. =)

Yeah, seriously, cap. You'd have no problem getting into several of your other schools. But you can't let what Princeton says mess you up. I still think you have an awesome chance, but if you do happen to get deferred/rejected, you still have a lot of schools where you can just rest on your incredible talents and get in.

EDIT: haha, yeah, I'm just waiting to see how long I'll be able to hold up. I'd like to think from Thursday until next Wednesday, but when people start finding out, I think I'll have to show back up. I mean, come on. These are the people I've been hanging around with for the last three to four months...

Nah I'm not that much into visual arts. I sent a music cd with 4 of my songs.

see, I sent one. I'm wondering if I should've sent more...for some reason I thought they said one, but probably not.

Phil (forgive me if I've already asked this) - Do you have scans of your work online/on your comp? What kind of work do you do?

it's nothing visual. mine are music compositions :) and yes, I'm still trying to find a way to put them online, heh.

I read about I think a 12year old composing genius at Juliard the other day...these people these days...

[I love the 60 second rule!]

yep, there are some pretty talented people out there.

And we have two of them here (at least): phil and kat!]

[ok...how about a 45 second rule?]

edit-oh and i guess ilcapo if you like that type of stuff ;)

c_j and jssballet count, too. And there are probably a few others we're forgetting...maybe this listing isn't such a great idea, heh.

haha. of course we can't forget mercurysquad. I mean, come on. (S)he's the one who brought all of the artists out of hiding...hehe. Listing is hardly ever a good idea, lol.
