Princeton Humanities Symposium

Does anyone know information about the one being held this year? How can we get information to our school for them to nominate us? Apparently the deadline is in the beginning of September... so if anyone knows anything about this, it would be really helpful.

My daughter was not “nominated by her school.” She received an invitation in the mail , sometime in the summer, after she was admitted to P and she accepted. It was an invitation by P, to apply. Princeton asked for a statement of purpose; they accepted 49% of the applicants (including her).

I didn’t know the procedure had changed. (“The one being held this year”) ? Maybe the process has changed. If so, that would be interesting.

epiphany, I think you may have gotten the Humanities Symposium (an event for high schoolers) confused with the Humanities (HUM) sequence for Princeton students.

Thank you, FightTheTide! Quite similar titles they are! Yes, I was thinking HUM, and didn’t realize that there was something for H.S. with such a name. Thanks for the info, too!

I emailed someone in admissions about this program:

So it sounds like your school has to be one of the few chosen by Princeton to send people. If they are not, tough luck I guess =</p>

Any nominated students hear back yet if they have been invited to attend the Princeton Creative Arts and Humanities Symposium???

Any past participants remember when they received their official invitation?

I’d also like to know if official invitations have been handed out. For some reason, there’s a dearth of information about the program through Google.

any news yet on acceptances??? Participants found out about this time last year when the Symposium was in October. But this year, it has been moved to November so wondering if that will delay the announcement of selected students. Too bad the Symposium is after the SCEA deadline…One would think that the participation in the Symposium would help students to make the decision of whether or not to apply SCEA.

I was thinking the exact same thing, bluemath. Moving it November doesn’t really make sense.

Oh well, I guess we can wait until October and see what happens. Hopefully we’ll see each other there!

I know that my counselor is supposedly applying for me, and I haven’t heard back yet as to whether or not I was accepted. As soon as anyone finds out, I would love to know!

Also, does anyone know what the theme/topic will be this year. I was looking back at previous ones and they seem really interesting!

Anyone have a URL for the 2011 symposium?
