I was just wonder if it was true that Princeton simply ignores the Freshmen GPA. Half the schools in US do not rank their High school kids in any manner.

Is it true that that Princeton ignores Freshmen GPA?

does anyone know why? i kinda dislike this, since i got straight a’s my freshman year. sophomore year is the only year i got 2 b’s. the rest of the years i’ve gotten straight a’s, but i feel that with that slightly weaker sophomore year, seeing that i got straight a’s freshman year could only help my case. but oh well. :)

not necessarily though. i know freshman who took ap classes. (i was almost one of them but i found out about it too late. :-/) and my freshman year actually boasted what i consider a good academic accomplishment: i was the only freshman deemed talented and qualified enough to be admitted into the newspaper staff at school, which traditionally only admits students after they take “beginning journalism”. but yeah, i’m not trying to cause an argument. i’m just saying that sometimes freshman year can show colleges important info. rare, but it does happen.

Case 1) You did really well your freshman year. Well, so did everyone else who applies to Princeton. (1/3 of the people who attend Princeton had unweighted 4.0’s at the time of application, probably at least 2/3 got straight A’s freshman year)

Case 2) You did the same your freshman year as your other years. Then it wouldn’t matter if Princeton cared or not.

Case 3) You did badly your freshman year. Princeton doesn’t care because it’s 3 years ago - if your 10th, 11th, and 12th grade show that you matured, then your bad grades will be pardoned.
