So it doesn’t even matter if it is 2:00 in the morning? He will still have access to a printer?

Right. I’ve printed stuff off at 3 am multiple times. The printer clusters are open all the time.

Thank you. One less thing to worry about.

Don’t bring your own printer. The cluster printers are better, faster, free, and don’t take up space. If you need to print in color, you can use the color printers at the New Media Center in Lewis Library.

Thanks for the answer about the color printer. Now I really won’t buy him a printer.

How about scanners? Do you have access to high-speed scanners in the computer clusters that will scan a document into a pdf? I like to scan my lecture notes to back them up just in case I lose the originals.

Most of the clusters have scanners, but I don’t know how fast they are.

D just got a bunch of stuff in the mail. One letter mentioned that freshmen can look at course reviews at “Point and Tiger Trade” on this website:

[Princeton University | Undergraduate Student Government](http://usg.princeton.edu/)

Under the “Services” tab, but I can’t find the link. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Are most people who fly to Pton check-in or ship their luggage, or buy/pick up locally?

TigerMom2014 and mrscollege, I PM’ed you regarding your question. :)

ProudNJMom, It was never necessary to purchase a printer. I worried about it, but the worry was never necessary. :)

tigerdad14, most people I know in this situation ship their stuff. The U-Store is about the only place within walking distance where you can buy dorm furnishings, and it’s pretty overpriced. If you’re flying to Princeton with your child, you could rent a car and go buy stuff on Route 1, but that seems like more trouble than it’s worth.

mrscollege, it’s at: http://point.princeton.edu/

tigerdad14, I packed 2 bulging suitcases and then took the bus to buy some stuff on route 1. I realized later that it’s actually much easier to order furniture-like things (lamps, shelves, caddies etc) online and have them shipped here. Most people ship their luggage (clothes, books, etc).
Additionally, if you really like to see your stuff in person before purchasing, there is a “WeCar” and maybe still a “ZipCar” on campus that you can buy a pass for and use to get stuff from route 1, which has all the stores (Target, Walmart, etc)

There are high speed scanners in many libraries (Lewis, Friend Engineering Library).

Thanks Weasel8488 and IAmNobody for these info.
We’ll probably buy most stuff on route1.

I have a question about emails from Princeton. I haven’t received one email at all. Is this normal? Do they only send them to the students? My son is good and does tell me about emails that he receives, (sometimes that is only if I come home and ask if he received any that day,) but I was wondering if there were some that were sent out to parents only. I have a received few pieces of mail “To the parents of…” but no email communication. Is there possibly a form that I did not fill out that I/we missed?

Thanks, IAN. I still couldn’t find the course reviews, but I finally found them here:

http://scg.tigerapps.org/

ProudNJMom - No email from Princeton here either. Everything goes to the student as it is their responsibility to be sure everything gets done. Hopefully soon they can sign up for TigerPay and at least add you to receive billing / payment info.

GSharpM7-Thanks, now I don’t feel like I am out of the loop! Like you stated I just have to wait for the signup for TigerPay.

^You can sign up for Tigerpay now…just have your student invite you. There are no bills to be paid yet, but it made me feel a bit more involved to be able to log on to the system :)

Thanks we will be signing up tonight.

my parents were wondering how travel works. since ill be doing CA, ill be arriving on campus on 9/4. my financial aid covered almost all of my tuition, which included other expenses as well. does it include my plane ticket fee? or would i have to buy the tickets myself and pay for them as well?
