Princeton Review Top Ten Party Schools

There are all sorts of lists of party schools. This one is by the Princeton Review.

West Virginia Univ.

Iowa

Ohio Univ. in Athens, Ohio

Illinois

Georgia

Florida

UCSD

FSU

Miami

Syracuse

This list claims to have the top ten party schools of the decade…

Florida

Penn State

Mississippi

Wisconsin

Ohio Univ.

Colorado

Arizona State

Georgia

Texas

UCSB

Georgia Girl,

You are incredible with the wealth of information you provide about USC’s greatness and there is some comfort to be taken in the Princeton Review and decade list. Unfortunately, most will probably view Playboy as the “bible” of party rankings and the Row will likely reference Playboy for weeks on end!

This ranking takes into consideration alcohol arrests and disciplinary actions by the college…

WVU

Penn State

Colorado

Ohio Univ.

Union

New Hampshire

Wisconsin

Colgate

Florida

Indiana

Until this list was released SC has not been mentioned on any ranking of party schools for many years. In my opinion all these lists lack credibilty as no real research has been done to substantiate the claims.

docfreedaddy,

Thanks for the compliment.

Honestly, is there a well known large school that doesn’t know how to party? Socializing is an important part of the college experience.

This list is compiled by *****.com with the Huffington Post…

Apparently Playboy ranks us #2.

What the frack?

I never understood why this is such a bad thing for trojans recently; they used to take pride about how fun their school was. Sure, I understand “party school brand” brings “bad academic brand” reputation or something along those lines, but as a Bruin who has many friends across town and knows the party scene at SC, there’s nothing to be ashamed of at all. Maybe it’s just the CC trojans that are freaking out, most trojans I know celebrated the Playboy Rankings. When reading this thread, I thought at first it was going to be a “Why are we not ranked?” rather than “Thank god we are not ranked” kind of thread. I still think Playboy got it right, and I still don’t believe it should serve as any negative connotation. If USC has truly turned an academic corner, this has absolutely nothing to do with USC’s academic prowess. Since when did “having fun” became such a negative thing? Anyway, whatever, Playboy Party rankings > any other magazine that thinks they know better than Playboy about college parties/girls.

Post #1:
UCSD Number 7?!

University California Socially Dead made a party school list? Prob misprint and it’s really UCSB.

My USC freshman D didn’t apply to UCSB because of its reputation as a “party school”. So the playboy list is rather amusing to us. Her father is a UCSD grad (1985 so things might have changed) but I was shocked to see it on the list above too. I haven’t checked it out but I agree with the above post - probably a typo.

^It is indeed a typo. No way that UCSD actually has much of a social scene let alone a party scene that is nationally recognizable.

I think Georgia Girl saw this list and copied it down wrong (it is rightfully so, UCSB):
[College Party Schools 2012: Princeton Review Rankings](<a href=“College Party Schools 2012: Princeton Review Rankings | HuffPost College”>College Party Schools 2012: Princeton Review Rankings | HuffPost College)

This is one of the main problems with Georgia Girl’s “news posts” because they are never cited or sourced with a direct link. It would make catching mistakes like this much easier, and it would make her posts more professional.

Could we please not turn this into something about GG? Just because she doesn’t always cite doesn’t mean that she’s not providing useful information. This isn’t Writing 140.

gOld3n,

Since you attend UCLA why does it bother you if I make a typographical error? I did see it and should have corrected it sooner. I shall try to cite sources in the future. Most of the posts are from websites and news articles. Posts here are not for research papers where it is necessary to use footnotes.

If you do not care for posts on this board I suggest you share your opinions on the UCLA board.
